Therefore, everything that we talk about will appear on the sedan, and a significant part - on the "Samara" and the "tenth" family.


The main innovation is the replacement of the 1.6-liter engine with a capacity of 1.6 liters by 1.4. That is, instead of the previously promised models 11186, 11196 and 11176, 11184, 11194 and 11174 will appear.

We recall briefly that the smaller motor differs from the previous one in the first place with a lightweight connecting rod and piston group (about 400 grams for one cylinder), which allowed to reduce mechanical losses.

The power of a small motor will remain very close to a large one. That is, the car will not lose in maximum speed and acceleration dynamics. But the new motor is less vibro-loaded, which means there is a gain in comfort. The next task that AvtoVAZ specialists are working on is to increase the engine resource from 150 to 200 thousand kilometers. And most importantly - the car promises to be more economical.


This year, all Kalina sedans and hatchbacks will be equipped with only eight-valve engines 21114 and thirteen-inch wheels (car indices 11183 and 11193). By the way, the first "viburnum" was made under Euro III, but since the beginning of this year there has been an easing - now they only correspond to Euro II, since these standards are introduced in Russia only in July. A temporary retreat implies simplifying the operation of the electronic engine management system, which means reducing the price: you do not need a second oxygen sensor, an uneven road sensor, there is no complicated self-diagnosis system, and the converter itself contains less precious metals.

The engine splash guard is extended - now it covers the entire engine compartment, and not just its front. This will improve the aerodynamics of the car, and therefore, to some extent, reduce fuel consumption. In addition, there will be noise isolation on the mudguard, which will help reduce the level of external noise.

The oil filler neck of the engine received a thread and a new seal - the plug is now tight. The bonnet stop lock has become more reliable, the generator bracket has been strengthened.


The first "viburnum" without load looked too high: the designers decided to some extent to please lovers of spacers in the rear suspension and tried to raise the car in advance. But now the client wants lower. The rear springs were shortened by 15 mm, but this only affected the position of the body of the equipped car, but it didn’t affect the ride height - it remained the same even at full load.

The clutch cable with the "automatic" pedal position adjustment stopped making clicks during squeezing - a silent constructive solution was found. We worked to reduce the vibration of the gear lever - changed the material of the bushings, the design and turned the hinge relative to the longitudinal axis of the thrust by 45 degrees.

The gearbox has a reinforced selection mechanism: the new one is distinguished by double flaring - on the upper and lower axles. The synchronizers of I, II and III gears became wider. In this regard, the corresponding gears have also changed. By the way, the same changes will now be in the boxes of the "tenth" family.


Body painting has finally moved from pilot to mainstream production. Besides the fact that this had a positive effect on quality, the likelihood of scratches and damage to the paintwork was reduced, since now there is no need to transport the body from one workshop to another.
