Yes, a difficult task: to combine sportiness and comfort - to teach the couch to chase * One of the first to solve such a furious task was taken by Carlo Guzzi, founder and chief designer of the Italian company Moto Guzzi. In the mid-20s, he decided to adapt his "Five Hundred", which had already defeated the rivals on the racetracks, to long-distance raids. And he equipped the car with a rare device at that time - a spring suspension of the rear wheel.
Carlo was not the first - they tried to spring the rear wheel before. But they retreated: if you adapt an equally flimsy pendulum to a flimsy, almost bicycle frame, the result will affect the handling of the car depressingly. (“A heartbreaking sight,” the donkey Eeyore would say, looking at such experiments.) Carlo Guzzi took into account the mistakes of his predecessors and built such a pendulum - a spatial tubular triangle, which was also stiff on the broken roads of those times.
The new model with rear wheel suspension, which received the GT index (from Gran Turismo), was launched into production in 1928. Soon, Giuseppe Guzzi, the brother of the designer, went on her to Cape Nordkapp, the northernmost point of Europe (6000 km is an extraordinary trip for the roads of the 20s) - so the car also got the name Norge. Since then, Moto Guzzi has always produced motorcycles with rear wheel suspension, so that she is the oldest special “in a soft place”
You won’t forget about this story. But the main thing is that a potential buyer remembers it. That is why the Italians called their Moto Guzzi Norge 1200 their new sports tourer, which was shown last fall at the motor show in Milan. That's the paradox: the company has long been trying to please mototourists, but there has not been a full-fledged “dresser” for ten years - since the 1000SP III was discontinued. Well, now the status quo has finally been restored, and brand fans will be able to enjoy all the delights of the “big burdock”. The fairing effectively protects the driver and passenger from the flow of incoming air and road dirt, the height of the windshield can be adjusted using an electric drive. Luggage wardrobe trunks will place luggage. The motorcycle is equipped with a GPS satellite navigation system and a cell phone with Bluetooth connection - this is what allows you to stay “connected” anywhere in the world without taking your hands off the wheel.
At the heart of the novelty is the famous Moto Guzzi Breva 1100 roadster, so with the driving characteristics it is also all right.
The traditional steel duplex frame is connected to the rear suspension of the CARC system, leveling the reaction of the cardan drive. Both suspensions are equipped with adjustments for preloading the springs (rear - remote, with hydraulic drive), and the shock absorber of the rear suspension - also with adjustment of the rebound hydraulics. The brake system is with ABS, it is disabled at the request of the driver. The engine - a longitudinally located V-shaped "deuce" - also migrated from the Breva 1100, but to increase the torque, the designers “increased” the working volume from 1064 to 1133 cm due to an increase in the diameter of the cylinder.
