To eat in a roadside cafe without the risk of poisoning, you need to focus on truckers. After nine in the evening, it's time to look at the motels and hotels - there are no places, it’s expensive there, in this cockroach, in that draft it blows off the bed.
But there is a category of car travelers for whom such problems do not exist - these are caravaners. They always have a house with them - they have a bedroom, a kitchen, and, sorry, a toilet …
CAR - TO RIDE
This level of comfort is provided by a camper - a car for traveling. The German Hymer Exsis is one of the most compact - only 5.45 m long, but belongs to the most prestigious class of integrated models (ЗР, 2006, No. 5). It uses a chassis and partially a FIAT-Ducato cab, on which a lightweight body made of polyurethane foam panels is mounted. On the street, the last bouts of frost, but inside it is warm - thermal insulation, like brickwork 44 cm thick!
While the crew settles in the "Exis", stuffing things and products on shelves and drawers, I get used to driving. I’ve driven to Ducato - everything is the same here, only the windshield and hood are extended a quarter meter to fit a fairly long berth at the top. Because of this, the front pillars have replenished up to twenty centimeters - a truck is able to hide behind them.
However, while there is nowhere to turn, there is especially one and a half thousand kilometers of the M4 Don federal highway, at the end of which mountains are puffing and the sea glistens. The road to the “off-season” is almost empty, and starting from a modest 90 km / h, I gradually get to quite legitimate on the 110 motorway - the camper’s move is very easy, it doesn’t strain either the driver or passengers. Good 2.8-liter Italian turbodiesel "Sofim", from 1500 to 3500 rpm pulls just brutally! There is cruise control, and ABS is a useful thing. Incidentally, two frontal airbags.
The first stop for refueling was needed only in the evening and brought an amazing result - the lobed 3.5-ton Exis consumed only 8.4 liters of diesel fuel per 100 km!
HOUSE - TO LIVE
The prospect of spending the night among the gentle KamAZ trucks did not inspire, so they stopped just in a forest belt near the road. All windows are closed with blackout curtains at night. Neon lamps and halogen lamps were lit inside - it became light and comfortable. But the music died down - the audio system is connected through the ignition switch. For some reason, the side light is also connected.
A gas stove with electric ignition began to warm the kettle and some goodies for dinner. An autonomous heater rustled with a fan - it also heats a stolitrovy capacity with clean water so that it does not freeze in winter. In the boiler, 10 liters of hot water are always ready. Specially adapted household appliances operate from a 27-liter gas cylinder, and the refrigerator can also be powered by onboard 12 V in motion, and from the 220 V network in the equipped parking lot. By the way, about the refrigerator, somewhere in its hundred-liter bowels beer cools down …
Dinner was a success. Further, dad thought about the meaning of life, and hardworking daughters began to wash the dishes - and very quickly halved the container with water. The fact is that a regular ball valve is installed in the sink without any timers or other saving devices - the pump drives the water, regardless of the fact that most of it immediately wastefully goes to the drain.
We had to save, because, unlike Europe, we do not have special speakers. But in Russia it’s easy to get rid of dirty water. I'm talking about dirty water from the sink, and not about the dry closet cassette - it was culturally emptied a day later in roadside toilets.
The ceiling was lowered at night - it turned into a spacious rookery with an area of almost 4 m2; children climbed up the stairs quickly. Under it is an ottoman of a meter wide. It's time for the side …
NOTES BY TRAVELERS
Second day. Early in the morning, while the children were sleeping, I jumped behind the wheel and managed to rewind a couple of hundred kilometers. On the mountain roads of the coast, it turned out that the Exis is a very maneuverable car with excellent traction. But the locks of various cabinets and shelves are rather weak: in turns they sometimes open, dumping the contents onto the floor. We spent the night on a deserted beach at that time.
The third day. In Sochi, stayed at a hotel. First of all, in order to charge the batteries in mobile phones, a camera, a video camera, and even shave - a 12/220 V voltage converter is installed as additional equipment, it is not in our Humer. I was pleased that in the parking lot the camper takes up almost as much space as a passenger car.
Fourth day. In the tract Medvezhy Ugol, they poured water from a stream into the tank, fed the adherent local dogs. We got to Krasnaya Polyana, got downhill skiing, boots. At the top of the sun, snow - rolled until you drop, noses burned. In the evening we went down to the coast. Sea temperature + 8 ° C - not having endured, bathed, then at once in a hot shower in the car. Grace! We like the nomadic life more and more. True, the children complain that there is no place where you can lie around during the day.
Fifth day. We are returning home. In the middle lane it drizzles a nasty rain, ventilation barely copes with moisture on the windshield. Late in the evening we get into a terrible traffic jam and crawl an hour at a teaspoon. After bathing for two hours, we turn off to some platform and, to the envy of other sufferers, we stand for the night with all the amenities.
Sixth day. In the morning the sun shines, the road cleared. Sensing a stall, the car flies faster than many passenger cars. On a four-lane freeway, I decided to accelerate to the maximum speed, and then an ambush and a radar … "Commander, look at this barn - can it rush at that speed?"
By evening, we are already on the Moscow Ring Road and turn west to the Mozhayskoye Shosse - it's time to return the Humer to the rental company. The motor home has returned home …
