But here's the funny thing: that scooter, which is called Burgman in Europe, has a much more poetic name in Japan - SkyWave, that is, “Sky Wave”. The descendants of the kamikaze - these certainly have not yet flown. To see this, look at what tuning for maxi scooters is popular in the Land of the Rising Sun. Cut to the limit windshields, skinny seat cushions, almost racing exhaust systems, expensive shock absorbers. And in Europe? Everything for sybarites: healthy fairings, aprons for legs, hand protection.

When modernizing their Burgman, Suzuki engineers tried to please both Europeans and compatriots. On the one hand, the car has become even more comfortable and safer: the windshield is higher, two closed helmets will fit under the saddle, and in the front shield there are three luggage compartments. In the brake system, there are already not one, but two discs in the front (it is even strange that the car of this class does not have ABS). On the other hand, the sports component is also strengthened. New engines (250 SMS for the Japanese market and 400 SMS for the European one) now with two overhead camshafts. The fuel injection system, like on Suzuki motorcycles, with two throttle valves: one is controlled by the driver (throttle stick), the second is the processor. All this increased both the power of the power unit in almost the entire speed range, and its reaction to the movement of the gas handle. In the chassis design, engineers replaced the previous 13-inch front wheel with a 14-inch one. Not only has the scooter stability been improved when moving in a straight line - now it is able to lay rolls up to 43 degrees on bends.
