The manufacturer proceeds from a pure theory (sorry for the pun!): Nozzles, they say, do not get dirty - why rinse? But no - the presence in the fuel of all kinds of dirt and other impurities makes the procedure almost inevitable. Very often, a run of thousands of forty nozzles may require flushing, but it happens before! The motor, in its own way, makes this clear - undercapacity, excessive fuel consumption, increased exhaust toxicity, etc. What to do to the owner? One will go to the service, the other - to the familiar garage craftsman, the third will try to do something himself. Fortunately, nozzles for domestic engines are usually not as expensive as for foreign cars - sometimes flushing should prefer to replace them. But we will still do the flushing, using a home-made installation - this is an example of an eight-valve VAZ 2111 engine.
In the photo - the pride of a garage craftsman. As you can see, the device is suspended from the inside to the hood. The most important detail is the capacity of about 2 liters, capable of withstanding a pressure of at least 5 atm. Two fittings are cut into it. The top one is designed to fill the tank with solvent (flushing fluid) and “pressurize” the electric bus compressor to operating pressure. Last clamps mounted on the tank. The bottom fitting is for the hose through which the solvent will enter the nozzle rail. The electric motor of the pump is connected directly to the battery with wires with crocodiles.
Before putting the device shown on the machine, we warm up the engine to operating temperature. Then installation - it will not take much time.
Fuel hose - special attention. Pre-selected one that fits tightly on the fittings of the tank and the nozzle ramp. Of course, special adapters are best here (sometimes they are sold on the market, but they are expensive, especially for a one and a half liter 16-valve engine). If they are not there, other ways of attaching the hose will also work - if only they would not fail and the flushing would not end in a fire.
That is why we test the system before filling in the solvent. Tightly wrapping the filler plug, attach the hose to the nozzle rail and securely fasten, for example, with a screw clamp. The spool of the ram fitting is pre-twisted. Turning on the compressor, raise the pressure to 3 atm, then turn it off and follow the arrow for a few minutes. Pressure does not drop - it means that the system is tight, you can start flushing.
First of all, raise the back seat, remove the hatch cover and turn off the fuel pump. Now pour the solvent into the tank and raise the pressure to 2.8 atm with the compressor. (The total amount of solvent required for flushing, taking into account the displacement of the engine and the rules for handling it, are specified on the product packaging.)
