“Driving” today is read throughout Russia, and judging by the questionnaires, not only Muscovites are ready to try themselves as tasters. We decided to arrange another “feast” in the capital of the Volga region, Nizhny Novgorod, at the Gorky Automobile Plant training ground.

Our experts have different lengths of service, age, social status, but they did not have to face foreign cars, and even the middle class (second-hand Passat and ancient Nexia, of course, not count). And such machines, as a rule, are full of different options, which you can’t understand right away. To facilitate the task, we slightly changed the rules of the game, inviting our partner dealers to present their cars to readers before the start of the races.

And there was something to tell about.

Citroen offered to try the two-liter 140-horsepower liftback (pseudo-sedan) C5 with automatic transmission. The "Frenchman" was replete with safety features: anti-lock braking system (ABS), switchable stabilization system (ESP), traction control (ARS) and as many as nine (!) Airbags. The list of options looked no worse: xenon headlight, separate climate control, factory alarm, front and rear parking sensors, on-board computer, cruise control, heated pillows and backs of the front seats, rain, light and much more. True, to pay for this pleasure would have been quite a lot - almost 32, 000 dollars.

Nissan dealers felt that tasting would be better served not with the “top” one, but with the more modest version of the “Premiere” with a 1.8 liter engine (116 hp) and a manual transmission. However, modesty can be understood in different ways. In this case, these are six airbags, ABS, a brake force distribution system (EBD) and climate and cruise control familiar to cars of this class, xenon, power accessories, etc. A curious fact: the velor seat upholstery withstands 160, 000 km of trips jeans - the most abrasive material of clothing. But the dealers are especially proud of the rear-view camera (the only offer in its class, by the way) and the instrument cluster in the center of the front panel. Engineers explain the unusual decision from the point of view of physiology: in their opinion, to look left-right is much more convenient than up and down. The price of the test car is $ 25, 200.

An even more budgetary (but the most popular!) Option was introduced by Hyundai. Its 1.6-liter (105 hp) Elantra was equipped with only the most necessary, with the possible exception of a four-speed automatic transmission. This list includes ABS, EBD, two airbags, an on-board computer, audio conditioning, central locking, heated mirrors, a galvanized body and mudguards. But the cost was the most attractive - $ 16, 490.

The favorite of all Mazda 6 drivers in our case was equipped with a two-liter (166 hp) motor with variable phases and a six-speed manual gearbox. Available were all electronic safety systems and eight airbags. "Full stuffing", including a leather interior, was proposed to be purchased for $ 30, 900.

Even the fairer sex preferred “Citroen C5”, although there is an opinion that women are much more comfortable in “babies”. The sedan fell victim to practicality - all readers agreed to the hatchback, while noting that an open fifth door in the winter instantly freezes the interior.

Equally unanimously, everyone welcomed the presence of ABS and the rest of the other electronic security systems. Obviously, many were captured by our recent journalistic investigation on this subject.

Strange, but almost no one commented on the number of airbags and the presence of child seat mounts. It can be seen that the ZR team has something to work on.

All readers turned out to be law-abiding drivers. And they checked it like that. To participate in the competition (the passage of the measuring section at a speed of 40 km / h according to sensations, without instruments), we invited a real traffic police inspector with a radar. And while he stood at the post, the competitors did not reach the cherished figure. But as soon as the editorial staff took his place, as the test results passed into the category of "bust". By design, this is a car from the near future. Stylish refinement - lighting equipment in the form of a boomerang. The most roomy car of the presented. It travels like a cruise ship - softly, smoothly and safely. In the subject and automatic transmission. There are few comments: a long “nose” makes it difficult to look under the hood, and wide racks limit visibility.

Nissan Premiere

Outwardly, the car is pleasing to the eye - no more. The avant-garde front panel is clear and concise. The chubby steering wheel fits perfectly in your hands. The car accelerates with pleasure, but does not provoke an active ride. Not least because of insufficient visibility - here the roof racks are too wide, and the camera is only behind!

Hyundai Elantra

"Korean" with a completely European and very expressive face! But the interior is rustic - busting in favor of functionality. Under the hood there are only 105 "horses", but very frisky - I did not expect such agility from a car with an "automatic"! The car is well balanced, allows you to fool around without consequences even on a snowy road.

Mazda 6

Carnivorous cat made to jump. Obviously, the car is designed for young soul-conscious drivers with sporting ambitions. By the way, numerous electronic assistants that can pull overwhelmed rider. Against this background, power seats with a memory function look like a useless toy.

Citroen C5

Citroen is a massive, spacious car with a smooth ride. An ideal car for family trips and, thanks to the suspension, not only on asphalt. The automatic transmission seemed overly thoughtful, but the manual mode compensates for the lack. Of all electronic systems, I liked ABS more - it works smoothly and delicately.

Nissan Premiere

An outstanding car hides under an outstanding appearance. The engine is weak, the suspension is also not up to par - it shakes. The instrument panel is too drowned - on a sunny day the readings cannot be discerned. Not so hot and acoustic comfort - you can hear the beating of snow on the arch. But in the middle class there are high requirements!

Hyundai Elantra

Hearing painfully familiar “crickets” in the panels, I thought that I was going to my dear “nine”. And just sitting down, I found a perfectly working "automatic" and logical brakes with ABS. I really liked the brake force distribution system - when braking to the floor, the car does not deviate from the line when the steering wheel is released!

Mazda 6

You can talk about this car only in superlatives! It exceeded expectations in everything - comfort, dynamics, controllability. I did not like the work of ABS. She is accompanied by a severe itching of the pedal and a sound similar to the rattle of a fender on a wheel. And it would also be nice to make the stabilization systems switchable - to suit the mood.

The car is packed with electronics to failure and is ready to ride by itself. But for me it's a minus, I'm used to make decisions on my own, without a hint. Although I still liked the AKP (maybe because I hadn’t traveled with this before). And the ability to raise the body above the road gives a chance to drive, finally (!), The last hundred meters to the cottage.

The space design of the Premiere at one time caused a shock, but now it has already passed. The car is understandable to the driver (obviously, thanks to carefully worked out feedback) and is convenient for passengers. The on-board computer is an excellent entertainment for adults and children. The trunk is large, but narrow - it's hard to reach the first row of things.

Hyundai Elantra

I liked the song name and the predatory face. Due to the good (read, the lowest in the test) prices, it is easy to forgive the lack of special frills. The direct stroke of the automatic gearbox selector seemed less convenient than the steps on the Citroen. The trunk is large, but steals space from the rear passengers - they simply have nowhere to put on their knees.

Mazda 6

Mazda is a drive! Stunning elasticity - the car accelerates even in sixth gear! True, there is not much room in the cabin, but enough for this style, charged and combat. In the bright capitalistic future, I would like to have a couple of cars - Citroen for family trips and travel, and Mazda for the soul.

Great design, you can see right away - Europe! It is amazing how well the creators have disposed of a huge interior space. ABS and automatic transmission are organic, and, for example, ESP impudently intervenes in the process ahead of time. The car is dynamic, ready to "shoot" when overtaking, but has a comfortable, quiet ride.

Nissan Premiere

The famous "monoform" of the body is not particularly impressed. In addition, ergonomics suffered: the upper edge of the windshield was too close to the driver - it presses. The central unit of instruments is well caught by lateral vision, so reading the readings does not distract from the road. Best of all on the ride.

Hyundai Elantra

Not equal to the rest. Obviously outdated dashboard, unfinished ergonomics. It’s cramped behind, and wheel arches interfere with getting in, trying to also stain clothes. With such a meager set of amenities, the car is clearly a little expensive. But it goes perfectly - a well-functioning “automatic” and impeccable brakes are beyond praise.

Mazda 6

Restrained outwardly, but boiling inside the car - a true samurai! The stabilization system helps so delicately that you want to take all the laurels! ABS is not so good - it breaks and rattles when triggered. Very comfortable seats - as if I got into my favorite pants. But if the spouse says: “I want Citroen!”, I won’t argue.

Very beautiful car. Good impressive deformation zones, a spacious lounge, a roomy trunk. But the interior is modest. When shifting to a lower gear in the automatic transmission, jerks are felt. In general - an excellent choice for a family man who is not constrained in funds.

Nissan Premiere

Of all the dishes made the least impression. I felt uncomfortable inside, and the tandem of gray plastic with aluminum did not appeal to me. I could probably get used to the original placement of the instruments over time. Unconditionally pleased only the rear view camera - convenient and safe.

Hyundai Elantra

Modest configuration, budget interior and vibration when driving at this price can be forgiven. But in business, the car showed itself well done. Thanks to a competent combination of engine and automatic transmission characteristics, a quick and even speed set is provided. Perhaps I will get the Elantra for myself.

Mazda 6

Large, stylish, well-packed machine. But most of the options, including the leather interior, I do not need. But I’m ready to pay for the engine - it’s not a pity for this.

The design is unusual, but I can’t say that I liked it. I have nothing against the central arrangement of devices. I didn’t like the console acting in the salon - you won’t climb from place to place. It’s bad that there is no stabilization system - for a large powerful machine it is needed. The technique is dense, but without sporting ambitions.

Hyundai Elantra

Very correct car! Large, nimble and not too abstract - it is quite affordable on credit. And it’s not a matter of prestige; it’s more convenient to work with a large machine on the farm. You can’t take a stroller, for example, to a Ferrari!
