And they had to try compact-class cars - Mitsubishi Lancer 1.6, Ford Focus 1.6, Renault Logan 1.4 and VAZ 2110 4. The first pair is more expensive, from the category from 15 to 20 thousand dollars. Equipped, respectively, more chic - airbags, power steering, air conditioning. "Ford", however, without ABS - it is this modification that lives in our editorial office. "Logan" and VAZ - the Spartan version in the category of up to 10 thousand dollars. The equipment of these machines is on the verge … Even the power steering, which has now become as familiar as, say, a brake booster, fell into the category of options. Well, "ten" - even inferior, but your own. And with Logan, another demand is a foreign car!
The venue of the meeting was assigned to the Autopilot driving school. It exactly corresponded to the task set - to reproduce the characteristic winter road, which cannot be counted in the vast expanses of Russia. The traditional types of coverings - infusion, snow, ice and potholes - were in abundance. In order not to risk either people or equipment, they held a preliminary briefing, sharing their driving techniques in extreme conditions. However, they are well acquainted with the regular readers of the magazine (ЗР, 2006, No. 1). The word "extreme" is mentioned for a reason - in the finals we arranged races for a while! We were prompted by a high level of training, demonstrated by all the participants in the tasting, to a bold experiment (machines - SP, not state-owned!) With such readers you will not disappear! By the way, even the professional pilot could not surpass the best lap time. A matter of chance, but still nice.
And then, after a hearty dinner overlooking the already familiar track, the tasters made their conclusions.
