The fact that I undertook to improve the “Urals” was not manicism: I studied it well. He left for the 103rd Ural for six years, after which he went to the Dnieper with a sidecar two extreme raids on the sands of the Caspian desert - and I realized which motorcycle I needed. I built it, called it "Cougar." *
If my first motorbikes were just a means of transportation to the country house and back, then the Cougara built already for the dalnyaks. And not along European highways, but along our “roads”. It is wheel-driven, because without it the wheelchair is worse than the “loner”. The principle of its creation is a maximum of serial parts and a minimum of self-made ones, so as not to exhaust yourself with searches for spare parts.
I installed two 650 cc engines in turn after one or two seasons - so as not to stand idle in the precious warm time (and the “resting” motor was set to repair in parallel). Upgraded serial clutch release system. Following the idea of his friend, he installed an additional release bearing on the pressure plate and, accordingly, “introduced” a shortened rod. Thanks to this, he got rid of the characteristic Ural disease - clutch rod breakdowns. The 500-watt generator was tuned out according to the method, again invented by a friend, - it replaced the serial front cover with an exclusive one - mine is stronger and more massive than the standard one: now there will be no cracks and breaks in the cover, often occurring with those on serial generators.
