Mazda 6 4WD The all-wheel drive version of the model, updated in the summer of 2005, debuted that fall. The body is only a station wagon. Engine: gasoline, 2.3 l (162 hp). Transmission: 5-speed automatic with manual shift. Options: Sport, optional equipment. Price in Russia: $ 35, 900–37, 800. Test car: leather interior, ground clearance device, $ 37, 800. |
The first impressions of the Mazda-6 4WD reminded the presentation of the updated cars (ЗР, 2005, No. 9). You do not need to get used to a cozy, not luxurious, but soundly finished interior. The landing is comfortable, the knobs, switches, twists are understandable in their places. Unless the seat heating buttons were hidden too cunningly, under the visor of a roomy box between the seats.
Acceleration - confident, but not too fast even on an empty car. No wonder - 162 forces for a spacious wagon is not at all a lot. But I liked the quick-witted box. With smooth operation, the gas pedal switches very early - the third is already at about 40 km / h. The on-board computer produced a pleasant result of this behavior: about 12 liters per 100 km in the city and in the outskirts, mainly in the “stop and go” mode. If you pedal vigorously, the box quickly understands: you need to keep the gear longer, providing (of course, to the best of 162 forces) intense acceleration.
With the brakes, too, they understood each other immediately. They are not only effective, but also convenient to operate, with minimal free play. Loved the suspension with 10 mm increased ground clearance. By the way, it is precisely on the posture and only on it that you can recognize the all-wheel drive Mazda. Yes, about the suspension - it is by no means furious, while on the road the car stands confidently, it does not tire with the buildup. I catch myself jumping over the speed bumps faster. The machine perceives this impudence without squeaks, gasps and sighs. Good! Maybe such a suspension should be installed in general on all Mazda station wagons? At least those that are sold in Russia.
But where is all the same snow? Found! Of course, a small section of a winding village lane near Moscow is not good news, but still … Further on this Mazda, alas, it is impossible. The road is broken by something narrow, but heavy, it must be a UAZ. And the ground clearance of the Six was increased, but not so much as to consider a car with a long front overhang and an all-terrain SUV base or at least a SUV.
On packed snow, when the electronics transmit up to 50% of the moment to the rear axle, Mazda truly demonstrates its capabilities. The car confidently accelerates and enters into a turn, allows it to pass with lateral sliding. But for this, of course, you need to turn off the stabilization system (DSC), which, taking care of your safety, “strangles” the motor, and put the gear lever in manual mode. Everything is very, very good. But I do not want to force this station wagon to be sporty - it does not suit him. And not only because (I repeat) the engine is weak. The reaction of the car to the steering turn … No, not at all sluggish, but not very sharp, calm, befitting a family car.
This is generally the key characteristic of the Mazda-6 4WD. She, I think, should be of interest to those who are close to family values, who often carry households with considerable belongings along the roads of a country where there is a long winter. Sounds like Russia, doesn't it? Indeed, the late autumn of 2005, which made us look for snow, is an exception for our latitudes.
Mazda 6 4WD - A SPACIOUS UNIVERSAL WHICH CONFIDENTLY DOES HIMSELF ON ANY ROADS. FOR MACHINES OF SIMILAR CLASS TO THE SAME RELATIVELY INEXPENSIVE.
+ Large capacity, good handling, including on slippery surfaces, excellent brakes.
- A long front overhang limits cross-country traffic, a relatively small engine power.
FOR THE SAME MONEY: Subaru Impreza WAGON $ 27, 120–41, 000 The car is noticeably about 200 mm shorter than the Mazda. Assets of the Impreza, like other Subaru, have a reputation for being obedient and interesting to drive cars (ЗР, 2006, No. 1) FOR THE SAME MONEY: Mitsubishi Outlander $ 28, 650–38, 590 The roomy “parquet” SUV with permanent all-wheel drive demonstrated good cross-country ability and almost passenger handling on tests (ЗР, 2004, No. 3) |
