Any tug-of-war - like an drawn gum: hits on the nose! And the 90s spawned a generation of neoclassicists - Kawasaki Zephyr, Honda CB750 * Nostalgia recreated the look of motorcycles 20 years ago, appealing to the "new-born bikers" (as if "born in a new biker") - so in English-speaking countries they call those He rode a motorcycle in his youth and saddled him again at the age of 40-50. Veterans didn’t put up shrill “plastic rockets” and demanded a motorcycle that was not mutilated with claddings, with a classic direct landing. And sometimes young people showed good taste - chose neoclassicists.

But the trouble, her mind, not clouded by nostalgia, saw through: something was wrong. Why the hell to the design for the 70s fucking dynamics of the same 70s, disgusting handling and brakes?

This is where the new generation came from, and its first-born Yamaha Fazer (1997): a modern 95-horsepower liquid cooling engine (derived from the Sportbike R6), sportbike-powerful brakes, good suspension, and all this is packed in a classic chassis with steel duplex frame. The traditional appearance was spoiled only by a half fairing with two rectangular headlights. But he, firstly, a sign of the "non-peaceful" nature of the machine, and secondly, he really protected from the wind. Which is not unnecessary - Fazer’s cruising speed is much higher than that of the neoclassical.

Snobs frowned: “Fu, bastard!” Yes, they soon shut up: the machine instantly got into the best sellers of the European market and did not get lost on others. In her footsteps, competitors followed: Honda Hornet and Kawasaki Z750 / 1000 appeared, also topping the charts.

But here's the hitch: what is the name of the new breed? Neoclassic? What a classic there is to the devil! Moreover, the latest generation of Fazer is so avant-garde that there is nothing classical in it, read, and there is none. "Naked" (from the English word naked - "naked")? Under this definition, and the old classics, and neoclassics, and in general any creature. A half-fairing - isn't that a loincloth?.. "Street"? The term gives something hooligan, closer to the "streetfighter". And in what line of classification do you want to plug a new breed into which not only Fazer and others like him, but also other tales of “unconventional stylistic orientation”, for example, Kawasaki ER-6n, are asked?

The term was presented by the French, they were the first to say: "Roadster" (roadster). The word is not new: having glanced at the English-Russian dictionary, we will find several interpretations at once. Among them - automobile: "Roadster, a car with an open 2-seater body, a convertible top and a folding rear seat." And the roadster is “a carriage or a horse for long trips.” It’s also an “inveterate traveler”, and, as the author of the dictionary Uncle Müller, “traveler along the roads” makes a note, the root of the word is “road”, that is, “road”.
