The outgoing year 2005 confirmed that our country does not stand still! Today, one who is sincerely interested in the success of his work will never ignore the opinion of an authoritative publication, no matter how tough this opinion is. And there are many examples of this. The “Zarulevsky” articles on “inconvenient” topics at different times caused an ambiguous reaction of the persons and companies mentioned in them, but today I can say: we listen very carefully to our opinion!

Take, for example, Volkswagen or Renault. On their side are big names, earned authority, strong market positions. But not one of them allows itself to brush aside the criticisms of ZR against it! I remind you that in the past year they firmly "got" from us, respectively, for Poynter and Logan. But instead of insults and hints of a “break in diplomatic relations,” we felt a real interest in our point of view! It is not for nothing that Volkswagen intends to produce in Russia not “yesterday's”, but absolutely new “pointers”, and Renault changed the technological process of assembling “Logans” almost on the same day when our testers found an unpleasant defect in the test machine!

There is nothing supernatural in this. It's just that serious western companies have long learned a simple truth: if you want to succeed, listen to the press! It is especially pleasant that our compatriots also give similar examples …

Of the examples worthy of imitation, I will definitely mention the iconic figure of recent months - Vladimir Kadannikov. It is possible to evaluate differently both his activities and the VAZ products as a whole, but one thing is certain - the first person of VAZ has always adequately reacted to criticism in the Republic of Zavod! For all the time of our communication with him, there were no reproaches for “unpleasant” publications, or “inhibition” of previously planned joint projects - Kadannikov really listened to the voice of ZR!

I foresee objections: they say, but what about the Minister of Internal Affairs of Russia? Why is Mr. Nurgaliev stubbornly unwilling to somehow react to the statements of the media - from the magazine ZR to the television program of V. Pozner on ORT? I will express my personal point of view - the minister does not own the situation, and therefore does not want and cannot change anything in the traffic police system. Nevertheless, let us not dramatize his silence - this is also a symbolic phenomenon, a kind of calm before the thunder! The society will not roll back and the traffic police reform cannot be avoided - I think this will happen already in 2006! Because the opinion of an authoritative magazine does not affect the individual, but the society as a whole - the silence of the minister will only accelerate the development of events …

And again I will return to Kadannikov. I want to compare the behavior of the two heads of the largest automobile plants - VAZ and Moskvich. Kadannikov talked with the press with dignity and calm - today his factory is alive and working! And Mr. Asatryan threatened her with trials and prosecutions - the sad fate of his enterprise is known to everyone … This once again indicates that democracy in Russia has not yet won - the fate of enterprises and organizations should not depend on the vagaries of one incompetent person. No matter what high position he holds …
