Sorry, I did not introduce the new recruit: Nissan Navara.

The luxury pickup, as presented by the new product, became the fifth all-wheel drive of this Japanese brand officially sold in Russia. The base of the chassis and the interior of the Navara were borrowed from the Passfinder presented last year. Of course, the pickup is much, almost half a meter, longer. This allowed not only to make an impressive cargo platform (they say the largest in the class), but also to leave enough space for the rear passengers, which such cars can rarely boast of.
Maneuverability? Well, yes, a little hurt. But such a device is not for everyday city driving (only to frighten a small car!). He is destined to carry a yacht or carry an ATV, to go hunting - a huge trunk that can be washed from a hose will come in handy everywhere. And if anyone is embarrassed that it is open, then “Navaru” can be ordered with a hardtop - a hardtop (from the English hardtop).

The interior is the top of luxury for a pickup truck, and for an expensive all-terrain vehicle, to which the Navaru can logically be attributed, focusing on the price tag, is quite decent. You can grumble on an unregulated armrest between the front seats, shortish seat cushions and a cigarette lighter located far from the driver. However, I do not smoke.

All these charms are pleasant in themselves, but when you leave the densely populated territories (and we agreed that pickups are bought for that), we once again wonder: what does he have? A friend asked me about this when he found out that Navara and I went to a neighboring province. I tell you …
- The main drive - rear; the front end is connected tightly. There is a reduced …
- So…
- The car is on the frame, the rear suspension is spring…
- So…
- There is a forced rear differential lock.
“Thanks, I get it.”

Actually, I haven't finished. Navara also has other useful tricks. For example, the same as the “patrols”, the quick warm-up button (it is also the cold climate mode): if you press it, the engine keeps idling at 1400 rpm (only in the “P” position of the box selector). You begin to appreciate this especially when, having frozen like a tsutsik, you start a cold iron horse and, holding out your hands to the deflector, wait for warm air. Has this happened to you?
The arsenal of funds demanded outside megacities also includes the possibility of forcibly engaging one of the first three programs. Much more often, by the numbers “2” or “3” on the selector, manufacturers understand not just the second and third, but the first two or three. Agree, for a tractor designed for a three-ton trailer, there is a difference.
Your humble servant drove without a trailer, for which the diesel pickup truck thanked for a modest fuel consumption. The average for seven hundred kilometers amounted to 10.9 liters, and with measured driving (about 100 km / h) along an unloaded highway - another liter less.
Speaking of driving modes. The pendants of the Navara are tight, I would even say tight - it’s completely logical for a truck that can take 755 kg on board. An empty car shakes in short waves and shakes in serious potholes. True, the rolls in the corners are small.
Accustomed to the limited ride, without noticing it, you begin to gain pace. If you do not look at the speedometer, car drivers can lose their peace of mind.

And here is my little lane: not very large pits, not very slippery mud, not very deep puddles. For normal off-road vehicles - not a problem; "SUV" will pass, but it will be a pity; cars do not come here. It is not possible to arrange serious cross-country tests, but a general idea of the car can be obtained.
The first race: with the front axle on, at lowered, but without rear lock … Easy! Now the same thing with the lock … Uh, yes it will pass without a driver at all, if you get into the right track. I tried on one rear axle, but with a cross-axle differential lock … Slowly - it didn’t work, I didn’t try to accelerate: it’s good, it will unfold across the track.
In general, solving typical problems of a traveler, Navara works like an ordinary all-terrain vehicle (trial and extreme off-road are not considered). Dimensions are felt primarily on steep and slippery corners (here you need to slow down). When you walk on a rut, the steps fixed on the thresholds willingly collect dirt, so you have to get out of the grimy car carefully.

On the whole, I liked the pickup: it clings to the highway tenaciously, walks well on impassable roads, and a considerable load will pull. True, if it were my will, the suspension would have been “dismissed” a little for the sake of ride-smoothness - I think 120 km / h is quite enough for a pickup truck. Think little?
Nissan Navara - A COMPROMISE BETWEEN A UTILITY VEHICLE AND A SUV. INTERESTED AS A SECOND CAR - FOR TRAVELING AND DEPARTURES ON WEEKEND.
+ Good economy, rich equipment, high traction capabilities, the presence of a rear differential lock.
- Low smoothness without load, limited maneuverability, insufficient brightness of reversing lights.
