Here it is - VAZ-1118: a sedan with an 8-valve 1.6-liter engine in the “norm” configuration, the most unsophisticated one. VAZ has already installed power windows on other models, so the only real novelty here is a full-fledged security alarm directly from the factory.
As for the build quality, there is nothing to complain about at first glance: small even gaps along the perimeters of the doors, hood, and trunk lid are a sign of obvious progress.
Okay, check the locks. Let's start with the driver’s door, the handle is comfortable … Pull … stronger … Jerk!.. A tight lock opened, the door swung open - it was good that the child was not standing nearby. The rest of the locks worked no better. When they were lubricated, they became a little softer, but adjustment could not be avoided.
Let's open the trunk? The keychain has a corresponding button, however, this “service” is not provided in our configuration - get the key! But an amateur mechanic can reward anything - from a cable drive to the latest achievements of the Telemechanics Institute.
And what's in the cabin? Let's start with the seats: wow! The range of movement will suit anyone. Yes, and the backs are already spared from the chatter, which they love to find fault with in the traffic police. But the steering wheel is adjustable only vertically - which means that not everyone will be comfortable. Muscle pain is a harsh reality for many.
Already interested in radio? Native no. Music will have to be taken care of separately. And do not rush with the purchase! The place for the radio is located a bit low, on some models a tall driver will not be able to read characters without bending over. When buying a radio, ask to turn it on, take a closer look at different angles, imagine how it will be installed.

First sensation: the pedal assembly is successful, the right foot does not scrape along the center console, the left foot does not cling to the brackets of the mounting block, as in the “top ten”. But what about the vibrations and noises that the powertrain transmits to the body, as if suspended not through pillows, but rigidly? Or with a bubbling exhaust system? So far no answers have been found to these questions. Regular tires I-710 are very noisy, and the suspension was clearly "considered" to be the ideal coating, but where is it in Russia?
Hence the "bounce" in the dashboard, in the area of the gear lever, in the doors, trunk, etc.
The interior fan did not surprise either. It’s not a secret for many that reconciling conflicting tasks - large air supply and low noise - is very difficult! At the second fan speed, you can enjoy the fact that it is still quieter than the soaring Boeing, but it will not work in trust with the passenger. Apparently, they also know this at VAZ, but they work (let's be realistic!) Within the limits of the allocated amounts. Soon they noticed another premise for trouble: the upper radiator hose touched the air filter housing, and the gas cable even “sawed” the pipe. Weakening the clamps, we turned the nozzles, finding the optimal position.
