“Togliatti”, fortunately, was not disgraced - only deviations in the beating of the working surface can be called a fly in the ointment in a barrel of honey, but the balancing is the most accurate. "Water treatments" discs also went with dignity, and effective "]

[/ caption] I go out of the entrance, and in the parking lot my neighbor “ten” warms up. And right to the point: “I changed the brake discs on the weekend - I put the ventilated ones!” - boasts. - “What-what?” - “Ventilated! Previously, the staff stood, and now with holes and grooves. Here!”

"The German" took an intermediate position between good and bad … Before the tests - no complaints, but after the heated disk was lowered into the water, impressive cracks appeared on the metal, and the norm in parallel appeared "]

[/ caption] Of course, the neighbor is mistaken. On front-wheel drive VAZs, ventilated discs are installed initially on the conveyor. After all, speeds, and hence the load on the braking system of modern cars have increased, and unventilated brake discs can no longer cope with the increased temperature of rubbing surfaces. So there were brake discs cast with voids and stiffeners to improve cooling. But there are no perforations or grooves on the regular VAZ parts - these are, so to speak, additional design features that allow the disks to withstand even greater thermal loads. As, for example, in sports cars.
Since for many of our compatriots the VAZ 2110 has long been a sports car, on the shelves of auto parts stores perforated wheels sparkled with brushed metal for these cars.

Cons: initially, the norm for static imbalance is exceeded three times. After cooling with water, the norm for parallelism and runout was exceeded by 2.5 and two times, respectively. A crack formed near the perforations "]

[/ caption] Be an expert! We bought a set of perforated discs LGR and, of course, could not resist, so as not to compare them with the standard ones, produced in Togliatti, and also, for the sake of completeness, with imported, German Lucas. The tests were carried out, as expected, in US. In addition to the usual parameters - geometric dimensions, static imbalance and hardness of the working surfaces, it was decided to determine the tendency to warpage when cooling a heated disk with water. It happens, after all, that in rainy weather, after prolonged inhibition, one has to swim across a deep puddle. After such a “camel trophy” it often hits the steering wheel when braking - the wheels turned … So we got cracks on the Lucas and LGR disc when water cooled. Togliatti fighter did not give slack!
As a result of the examination, it turned out that the Togliatti brake disc has deviations in the runout of the working surface, but, oddly enough, the best balance. The worst balancing is a perforated disc, which, according to experts, is most likely due to careless drilling of perforations.

The wear resistance of all types of discs is approximately the same, as well as the wear resistance of the pads themselves when working with domestic and imported discs. But on a perforated disc, the wear of the pads is significantly lower.
