You smile in vain: bulky clothes and shoes do not contribute to safe driving, especially on slippery winter tracks.
What is the reason for the "weakness" of some heaters? Most often - in the ugly quality of parts. For example, the primitive “non-drinking” of the partition dividing the fluid inlet and outlet cavities allows it to follow a short path - almost without washing the radiator core, which is why it does not work.
If something like this happens with a central heating battery, call the plumbing. And what should we do? A completely useless radiator will have to be replaced or repaired - to rebuild the partition. Sometimes it is useful to update the thermostat - because its settings can go away so that at a low power, which is usual for driving on winter roads, the temperature of the liquid itself drops. In severe frost it will not hurt to warm the main radiator in the old fashioned way: the cold draft under the hood will weaken, and this will make the car a little warmer.

So, the radiator of your heater is a “solid three-piece”. How to increase the flow of hot liquid into it without treading the gas pedal? (Note: nothing will “collapse” in the power system of the engine, because we will take away only that part of the heat that a full-fledged heater should use.) For this purpose, we built an additional pump in the VAZ 2108 heater line. We bought a Gazelle heater electric pump, a hose and a conventional four-pin relay. For everything - 650 rubles. Simple work took about an hour. (By the way, a good brass radiator costs about 900 rubles, and the work of replacing it from 800 rubles on a VAZ 2108 to 2000 rubles on a VAZ 2110.)

The pump is fixed in the engine compartment so that it does not touch moving or hot parts. Operating procedure: the coolant was drained, the hose was disconnected from the head of the unit and connected to the side connection of the pump (see diagram), and the central connection of the pump - with an additional hose to the connection of the unit head. Tightening the clamps, poured coolant. The power supply of the pump was connected, as shown in the diagram: to work simultaneously with the heater fan. On the VAZ 2108, the wire for this fan is in the passenger compartment, slightly above the gas pedal.
Let's try it out? First, the engine warmed up well. At idle, the heater regulator was moved to the third position. Wow! Hot air went, the temperature of the liquid dropped slightly.
