In general, the door is quite heavy and expensive. Arvin Meritor, a company specializing in the manufacture of so-called door modules, succeeded in making it easier and cheaper. The fact is that in factories - car manufacturers have not been eager for a long time to fasten the above-mentioned parts and assemblies, leaving this painstaking work to the companies - suppliers of modules. On the assembly line, they only agree to install this module as a unit in the future door.
The supplier, however, also seeks to minimize the cost of production. To do this, instead of a steel plate, to which parts were previously screwed, Arvin Meritor offered a molded plastic frame with latches. “Click” - and the speaker is in place, “click” - and the power window is fixed … In addition, the entire module was 25% lighter than the steel predecessor! The HIP module (HIP - Highly-Integrated Plastic) also has other advantages. The new material absorbs sound waves well and therefore improves sound insulation.
