For the vast majority, these stupid dreams remain ephemeral. But there are guys who have crazy plans and have more than enough energy, and they manage to find money - and give it heat! So in the early 90s, the stars of John Britten, the French Andre de Cortanza (remember the ELF project?) And Claude Fior flashed. These desperate forced to follow even the "mainstream" manufacturers. Take a look at the sports Honda and Ducati with their one-way rear suspension pendulum inspired by de Cortanz’s ELF, the front suspension of the latest BMW “K” series according to Fiore’s ideas or the Benelli Tornado with tail radiators - like John Britten’s motorcycles … The New Age put forward yet another “behaved”- 40-year-old American architect Michael Sees.

In his profession, Sizz took all heights: his workshop orders the most prestigious hotels and entertainment centers, superstars Cindy Crawford and Leni Kravitz live in the houses he designed … And he never forgot about his family hobby: motorcycles. Grandfather Clarence Sees became famous as a Norton Manx racing tuner in the postwar years, Terry's father successfully chased himself and made cars for others. Michael - there too: breaking away from his architectural projects, scored points in the US Championship on the 250 cc Aprilia RVS.

And suddenly (all the most interesting happens “suddenly”) he took a blank sheet of paper and sketched outlines of the most unusual motorcycle in the world: with a twin 4-cylinder engine mounted longitudinally in a carbon fiber frame and futuristic suspensions. He designed and made everything himself. Result? Yes, here he is in front of me on the Las Vegas Speedway: a prototype of the MotoCzysz C1 racing motorcycle. He shocked me! Pay attention - to me, one who knows well what extravagant designs are: he chased Bimota Tesi for three years, then he performed at the equally extraordinary Saxon-Triumph.

But before I straddled this radical, Michael suggested that I stretch myself on the production Yamaha R1. Serial, but not quite: instead of the front telescopic fork, the 6X-Flex system developed for C1. In some ways, it resembles the SaxTrak system used on the Saxon-Triumph, and technically it is not so sophisticated: it does not have anti-glut geometry and does not allow you to adjust the angle of the steering column. But it works better! It seems that you hold the front wheel axle directly with your hands - you feel the slightest inclination of the wheel, the degree of adhesion of the tire to the road and the sliding limits in high-speed bend. This is the merit of linear bearings, which greatly reduce friction and thereby increase the sensitivity of the fork, and Ohlins racing shock absorber (it is connected to moving parts without any intermediate linkage). Another advantage of the system: with it, you can brake very late at the entrance to the turn and put pressure on the brake lever with all your might while cornering. For comparison: an ordinary telescopic fork at the same time “dubs” so much that it inevitably leads to a fall.

The advantages of the system are not limited to this. You can vary widely and hydraulic characteristics, and the geometry of the entire motorcycle. Want to play around with your shock absorber settings? We remove the shock absorber, twist it as you like and return it to its place. Done!.. Consider increasing the height of the front? It is easily adjustable with the shock absorber removed. Moreover, the departure also changes with the same ease. Michael Sees invited me to drop into the pits every six to eight laps to change my motorcycle settings. I noticed time for interest: 3 minutes 21 seconds - and a motorcycle with a completely different steering geometry! Compare this with the duration of the operation to replace all the traverses, which is required to change the departure on an ordinary motorcycle: this is a watch!.. And how had nobody thought of this before?
