Good management skills are the key to survival in the city, so you need to learn how to slow down and steer, track the flow, predict its “behavior” and be visible yourself, avoid the “dead” zones … And always have a backup option ready. The life of a motorcyclist on the street depends on the mood of the neighbors in the stream, the condition of the asphalt, the condition of the cars around and other surprises … Is it difficult? However, it is unfortunate that only a few use motorcycles for daily rides.

Yes, there are arguments against riding a motorcycle in the streets, and these are weighty arguments. The most important one is a threat to life and health, usually coming from unprepared, inattentive neighbors in the stream. We can mention weather dependence, vulnerability to criminals, mutually exclusive requirements for clothes at the wheel and at work … But all this pales before the need to risk his life every day. Pay more attention to the behavior of other drivers, try to always be visible. Think like a motorcyclist always, and not just drive a motorcycle.

Learning how to drive a motorcycle properly is first and foremost a brake. The ability to stop at the shortest distance will sooner or later save your life. It is as important as the ability to recognize a drunk driver in a stream. Motorcycle novice riders often do the wrong thing when they are in danger. For example, they block the front wheel when braking or forget to steer and drive in the direction of danger or not looking in the direction of the salvage road - their eyes, as if spellbound, rests on an obstacle … It does not occur to beginners to appear on motorcycle racing championship tracks. Why do they go to much more dangerous streets without having mastered the basic skills of driving a motorcycle? Make a habit of training emergency braking more often - exercise on every ride. Choose the moment when there is no one behind, and under the wheels the asphalt is even and tenacious - and brake intensively at the Stop sign or traffic light. Experienced motorcyclists always hold their index and middle fingers on the front brake lever - to save precious moments on the movement of the fingers from the gas handle to the brake lever to reduce the reaction time of the muscles to the brain signal “brake!” And the luminaries also control the grip and drive not in the middle of the lane (here it is slippery due to oil dripping from the cars), but about a third of the distance from the left edge of the lane, where the asphalt is as tenacious as possible.

Look at the experienced motorcyclist behind the wheel - he is always wearing protection. The choice of equipment should be approached as responsibly as possible. It should not be too hot, it should withstand the vagaries of the weather. If you want to be considered a tough guy, wear protection.

High speed does not kill on its own - it only lengthens the braking distance. I bet: if you were in an emergency situation, it means that you were driving at speeding, which means that you drove yourself into a situation when you lost control of what was happening around. If you run along the shelves in the supermarket in search of milk, you simply will not have time to notice it. So it is in the stream: at high speed it is impossible to “read” the traffic properly, and this inevitably leads to unpleasant surprises.

Can you properly track traffic? If the gaze is fixed on some car, sign or pedestrian, you lose the ability to see the whole picture. Then to trouble just one step. You need to constantly look, look in all directions at once - this will give the brain more information, and it will be able to recognize the danger in advance, figure out how to avoid it. Of course, the ears help to hear the howl of a siren or the hoot of a nearby car, the nose will warn about a pool of fuel. But the eyes remain the most important source of information.

Many accident stories begin with the words "I'm very tired and …". In a state of fatigue, our eyes are so fixed - they are fixed on one subject, which means that others, possibly potentially dangerous, are overlooked. You need to learn to recognize in yourself the moment of the onset of fatigue and make the eyes move more actively. If you train eye movement on every trip, it will become a habit that will help when it happens to return home after midnight.

It is harmful to simply roll in traffic - it is necessary to actively break through it with a certain amount of healthy aggressiveness, with a speed greater than the flow velocity, by about 15–20 km / h. This allows you to hold the initiative, to be less vulnerable to the mistakes of others, to be less distracted by the situation behind you and to pay more attention to what is happening in front and side.

Most drivers are too keen on choosing speed and distance. What is wrong: first of all, one must become as visible as possible, visible to other participants in the movement. The only criterion for choosing a speed mode and distance is your presence on the road, obvious to others. Many novice motorcyclists believe that everyone sees them - and pay dearly for this illusion.
