Under the "ten-foot" cable, it was required to modify the hole in the engine shield. Armed with a round file, the diameter was increased to 16 mm - exactly under the tip of the sheath of the VAZ cable. Access here is simple, the work is simple. The edges of the hole, of course, were treated with anticorrosive. The new cable was laid so that it lay down naturally.
The turn of the throttle return spring has come. For our “light” cable, such a tight one is useless. They did just that: they removed the mustache from the standard pin. The spring turned around a little - henceforth the mustache rests on the restrictive bolt of the throttle - and the force has become much less. For the correct operation of the drive we created, it is quite enough, but we still checked several times for operability, made sure that the valve completely closes when the gas is released, does not “freeze”.
So, friends, removing minor flaws with minor modifications, you can make a real Volga out of just a serial Volga!
FIGURE 1. This is how the "cable" in the factory version looks like. Two graceful (see arrows) kinks turned it into the Latin letter S, and this, as motorcyclists well know, increases friction so much that the cable sticks in the shell. Is this really unknown to designers? In the warranty service they tried to reassure us: “Over time, it will be rubbed!” But we somehow know the value of these promises - we need to do something ourselves. Grease? This is, firstly, not easy to do. Secondly, it rarely helps.
FIG. 2 This is what happened. The dimensions of the bracket were chosen in place - we show you the best option. Don’t pay attention to the non-essential configuration features - stampings and oval holes were in the first piece of iron that made the bracket. This also applies to the strut welded (for rigidity) - do not forget only that it should not interfere with nearby wires and other details.
FIGURE 3. We redid the drive using a cable from the VAZ 2112. It is twice as long as the Volgovsky one, but it is located freely around the perimeter of the compartment - and the friction is minimal! True, two significant changes had to be made to the design. First: they turned the lever over the throttle axis 180 ° - now the cable pulls it forward. Second: they made a bracket with an emphasis for the shell (in the photo - a detail of a reddish color). This bracket was mounted on the header of the manifold next to the throttle pipe.
