The first of them is DST-6S (photo 1) of the Samara enterprise NPO NTS. Designed for intensive professional use by service masters. The case is made of shockproof plastic, the control buttons are reliably protected from dust and dirt. Information is displayed on the backlit LCD. Food - from the car's on-board network.

Choosing the right menu item is simple. To check the engine assemblies, VAZ has its own cable with a junction box (photo 2). So that you do not guess where which connector is, on the case there is a sticker with a hint. A simple verification scheme is described in detail in the instructions. Of course, the owner of the DST-2 or other similar scanner will immediately notice that some functions for checking actuators are on the shoulder, and he - why get an understudy? But do not rush to conclusions! We checked the DST-6S in business. A faulty DPS, which caused jerks during acceleration of the car, the controller “did not remember” - it is difficult to determine from the readings of the scanner whether the signal of the position of the damper is smoothly changing. But here we connected the DPDZ to the DST-6C connector and immediately found out that the contact track was damaged in two places - a beep twice.
The same device allows you to check the movement of the valve of the idle regulator or the mass air flow sensor. When determining the characteristics of the latter, the account goes to hundredths of a volt - and DST-6S copes with this. Another function is to check the balance of the nozzles. Diagnostics appreciate this opportunity. In this case, the device allows you to use the standard settings or change the number and duration of pulses. By the way, if the supply voltage drops below 11 V, when the test is no longer recommended, a warning appears on the display.

The currents in the circuits of the engine control system are weak - a very accurate measuring device is needed to check the voltage. DST-6S complete with a special cord (photo 4) turns into a high-class voltmeter with the ability to measure from zero to 20 V. The limits of the scale can be narrowed to 0–1 V or 0–5 V.

And here is another function of the device: how to check if the oxygen sensor is working? To do this, translate the DST-6S into a voltmeter mode, disconnect the connector from the oxygen sensor - and install an adapter in the gap (photo 5). Having started and warming up the engine, we connect the probe of the device to the contact of the adapter. The instrument display will show how often the signal from the oxygen sensor changes. As a result, we can determine if it is operational. But that is not all. DST-6C is able to simulate the signals of the crankshaft position sensor and the Hall sensor. The necessary cable you see in photo 6.

As many people know, the ignition modules for VAZ engines have proved to be not very reliable. Checking the high-voltage part in the service is a common thing. The corresponding function of the device allows you to simulate the crankshaft speed in the range of 100-6000 rpm. In addition to the cord (photo 7), you will need samplers that simulate candles. For two-pin ignition coils VAZ 1111 or ZMZ-406 - your own cord (photo 8). The developers of the device did not forget about the coils for carburetor engines. To check them, you need to connect to the contacts of the “+ B” and “K” coils through the adapters.
