
The quality of the casting is excellent: smooth surfaces, smooth edges - here they are, in the pictures. One bad thing: the alloy is fragile! The design has a hinge that (theoretically!) Allows the mirror to fold if necessary. But the hinge, to put it mildly, is tight. When our colleague lightly hooked a small tree on the mirror, the latter did not suffer, but the mirror did not work out - the bracket burst …
It can be seen that at VAZ they decided: the owner of a fashionable car the price of a new mirror is 4.5 thousand rubles. per set - does not seem excessive. True, while he finds it, power is rushing. Well, we will try to repair the mirror.

Fig. 1. Unscrewing and disassembling the mirror, we saw these fragments. Here 0–0 is the axis around which, according to the designer, it should be folded. But when we tried, it turned out that the corrosion is stronger! If you press harder - and what remains is scattered. Moral: the owner must live according to the laws of the Flood - whether you ride or not, you regularly move the mirror, turn it over!

Fig. 2. Connect the two parts of the bracket in different ways. We have chosen what is more accessible. Docking the fragments, they cut out lining patterns from cardboard, then made them of sheet steel with a thickness of 1 mm. We assembled the entire “package” and drilled it under the M3 screws. The result you see: three pads on one side, and a fourth, large, on the opposite.


Fig. 3 and 4. It looks like on both sides the junction of the fragments of the bracket with pads. So that in the future, due to vibrations, do not loosen the screws and nuts, it is better to fix them with glue, for example, epoxy. Now it is necessary to carefully carry out the repaired part through the “window” of the plastic case. Do not forget about orientation, so that it does not work “backwards”.
