It is much worse to imperceptibly breathe carbon monoxide - carbon monoxide. Do I need to explain how important effective ventilation is! And hand in hand with it is heating. By the way, it will do a good job not only in winter - in our northern latitudes even summer is sometimes not painfully affectionate. And how can one not be offended by VAZ engineers if you turned on the heater on your "top ten" on a cool June afternoon and the rear passengers did not get warm!
What can we say about winter, which is just around the corner …
At the brand new editorial VAZ 2110 4 we are already faced with the features of the microclimate. Here, the same familiar damper with three positions of "distribution" of air. The upper one is for blowing glass, the middle one is for the driver and passenger on the right, the lower one is at the feet of travelers. But at the same time, several oddities were noted. Firstly, the air blows well from the grilles located in the middle of the dashboard, and those at the edges are less efficient. Secondly, if you turn on the heater, for some reason the upper panel heats up quite strongly: that means that part of the heat for the crew (especially the passengers at the rear) is lost. Thirdly, when the lever is in the lower position, air more or less decently blows into the legs in front of the sitting ones, and almost nothing gets to the rear. So the suspicion crept in that not everything was alright with the air ducts. Let's check (photo 1).
To reduce heat loss, we redid the air ducts - there is no need to wander the flows in the confusion of angular ducts with slots at the joints! For example, it is better to supply air to the peripheral nozzles at the edges of the panel through hoses, without “back streets” (photo 3). And in order to improve the blowing of the glass, we carefully seal the gaps between the upper and lower panels.
How can one not recall the thousand-year-old experience of the Chinese poor: when saving fuel, they did not heat fanza walls - read, space! - but only a couch. The car heater is also not omnipotent, because its capabilities must be used wisely without spending them on the fact that it does not need heating. Now the heat is not wasted, and the ventilation has become better - the air enters the nozzle with minimal loss. And good ventilation with decent heating is one of the conditions for a safe ride.
