We already talked about the new test method in ЗР, 2004, No. 9, therefore, we will only touch on the parameters that determine the location of the tire in our ranking table.

Coast - by its value from a speed of 80 km / h we evaluate the rolling resistance at low speeds.

Fuel consumption at 60, 90 and 120 km / h will allow you to indirectly evaluate rolling resistance at steady speeds.

The braking distance is on dry and wet asphalt from 60 km / h to a full stop. For tires 175 / 70R13 braking with locked wheels (for 195 / 65R15 - using ABS). Thus, we evaluate the braking properties of tires.

“Rearrangement” - change of a lane with a width of 3.5 m at a distance of 12 m. We determine the maximum speed at the exit gate of the first corridor before the start of the maneuver. At the same time, the car moves in fourth gear with gas discharged at the time of determining the speed. Deviation from a given trajectory only adjusts the steering angle. We increase the speed in each subsequent race by 1–2 km / h, and when reaching the maximum, when it is already impossible to enter the second corridor without touching the cones, we repeat the exercise. The test speed is that achieved repeatedly. Exercise is performed on dry and wet pavement. The maximum possible speed of "rearrangement" allows you to evaluate a set of pull-off characteristics and lateral coupling properties.

PARAMETERS EVALUATED BY AN EXPERIMENTAL METHOD

Manageability - assesses the ability of the car to respond to the driver's control actions on dry and wet asphalt. We pay special attention to how the behavior of the car changes when going into sliding and completing the latter.

Stability - the ability to maintain a given straightforward direction under external influences (roughnesses of the road, crosswind, etc.) without corrective actions of the driver. Here we evaluate the reaction of the car and the information content of its behavior at small (up to 5 degrees) steering wheel turns.

The assessment is carried out on asphalt at speeds up to 120 km / h for tires of dimension 175 / 70R13 and up to 160 km / h for tires of dimension 195 / 65R15.
