Pirelli p7

Manufacturer - Italy

919.1 points

Maximum speed - 240 km / h

(index "V")

Projector depth and pattern - 8.2–8.5 mm, asymmetric

Tire weight - 9.0 kg

Price in Moscow - 3750 rubles.

Value for money - 4.08

These tires in our test were, if you use rally vocabulary, a zero crew. He goes ahead of everyone, but beyond the standings.

Outstanding directional stability on a straight line, and at any speed. Very close are high lateral grip properties, good handling, especially manifested on wet surfaces. This is where the Skoda behaves very well, even when it comes to speeding.

Mediocre (we admit such an epithet for faster tires) braking and not very modest fuel consumption (last year these tires were more economical) did not help opponents overtake the Pirelli P7.

Cool tires for fast driving.

Excellent directional stability, very good handling on wet surfaces, a good set of lateral grip and drawback characteristics.

Braking is poor, fuel consumption is far from ideal.

1st place

ContiPremiumContact 2

Manufacturer - Germany

917.0 points

Maximum speed - 210 km / h

Depth and tread pattern - 7.5 mm, asymmetric

Tire weight - 8.5 kg

The price in Moscow is 3000 rubles.

Value for Money - 3.27

Just a few points pedantic "German" ahead of the frugal "Frenchman" and nerdy "Finn."

Quite a bit yielding to the Michelin in terms of efficiency, and the Nokian in braking, he took his control in dry asphalt. We didn’t get such pleasure from driving the Skoda on other tires. The car, wrapped in KontiPremiumKontakt 2, seemed surprisingly obedient. The trajectory is recorded very confidently, there is no hint of skidding.

On wet asphalt, not everything is so cloudless, here the external front tire breaks. At the same time, there are no complaints about the behavior of the car.

A small remark on the behavior of the car on a straight line at high speed. More precisely, to his reaction to a small steering turn: a slight, but still noticeable delay is noted.

Very good handling on a dry surface, a good set of lateral grip and drawback characteristics, a high level of comfort.

Small notes when driving in a straight line.

2nd place

Nokian NRHi

Manufacturer - Finland

914.4 points

Maximum speed - 210 km / h

Depth and tread pattern - 8.5 mm, directional

Tire weight - 8.8 kg

Price in Moscow - 3200 rubles.

Value for money - 3.50

Manufacturers of very good winter tires now make the same summer tires. Last year, Nokian NRVi made it to our podium test. Now the tire with the speed index “H” did the same. Stability is a sign of mastery!

Very good grip and handling. On dry pavement in the limit there is a slight skid that helps to pass the turn. On wet surfaces - soft sliding, smooth recovery, everything is well predicted. And yet, at maximum speed, disruptions become harsh.

The highest tread among all test participants suggests a long service life and stability of characteristics over a significant period.

In general, Nokian is very close to the eminent Michelin. Slightly lost to him in economy, but won in braking, taking a leading position in these exercises.

The best braking on any surface, good directional stability, a set of lateral grip and drawback characteristics.

A bit harsh.

3rd place

Michelin energy e3a

Manufacturer - Germany

913.0 points

Maximum speed - 210 km / h

Depth and tread pattern - 6.8–7.5 mm, asymmetric

Tire weight - 8.1 kg

Price in Moscow - 2750 rubles.

Value for Money - 3.01

The leaders of our test are very crowded. Michelin is good in directional stability at high speed, in grip on any surface and handling. But if in quick corners to bring things to slides, they will be a little longer than that of the closest rivals. Nevertheless, this did not affect the assessment of handling - on the verge of slipping, the Skoda, wrapped in Michelin, is controlled very clearly.

Note that, along with high coupling properties, the tires are also distinguished by outstanding efficiency. Not a frequent combination. Comfort is also very good, except that there are some minor complaints about the ride.

For a tire that scored 913 points and took third place with a result very close to the leaders, very good, the best among relatively expensive models, the price / quality ratio.

Three weaker tires were more expensive than this Michelin.

A good set of lateral grip and drawback characteristics, as well as directional stability and controllability, high economy.

Slightly harsh.

4th place

Goodyear hydragrip

Manufacturer - UK

892.2 points

Maximum speed - 210 km / h

Depth and tread pattern - 8.4 mm, directional

Tire weight - 9.3–9.7 kg

Price in Moscow - 2900 rubles.

Value for Money - 3.25

They can be safely attributed to the tire elite. Most likely, only the lack in our test of assessing the ability to withstand aquaplaning did not allow them to get on the podium. By the way, we plan to introduce such an exercise in the near future.

Stability is good, traction is very good! “Hydrogripp” has especially high lateral grip and handling on wet surfaces. The speed on wet “rearrangement” is the same as on dry asphalt! And if the behavior of Skoda on these tires in a quick turn on dry asphalt is a little “blurry,” then it seems to be replaced on wet asphalt - it behaves clearly and obediently.

The best tires for wet roads.

Good directional stability, stable grip on any surface, very good handling on wet.

Not good braking, especially on dry surfaces, high rolling resistance.

Yokohama C. Drive

Manufacturer - Japan

875.6 points

Maximum speed - 240 km / h

Depth and tread pattern - 7.9 mm, asymmetric

Tire weight - 8.3 kg

Price in Moscow - 2900 rubles.

Value for Money - 3.31

These tires, of course, are structurally different from others - they are designed for higher speed (index "V"). In a straight line, the car goes great, it brakes cool on dry and mediocre on wet. The average level of lateral grip and handling, and on any surface.

Interestingly, these tires respond to twists and turns of the steering wheel when the car goes through a slip turn. But this does not mean that he will always be able to keep on the trajectory.

Efficiency is contradictory - tires roll well at low speeds, but are “gluttonous” at 120 km / h. The comfort level is slightly below average, apparently, this is a fee for the ability to go faster.

Very good directional stability at high speeds and braking on a dry surface, low rolling resistance at low speeds.

Increased consumption at high speeds, high noise.

5th place

Bridgestone Turanza GR-80

Manufacturer - Japan

867.7 points

Maximum speed - 210 km / h

Depth and tread pattern - 7.9–8.3 mm, directional

Tire weight - 9.3 kg

The price in Moscow is 3000 rubles.

Value for Money - 3.46

The best speed when performing "rearrangement" on dry and wet surfaces, while good handling on wet. It’s worse on dry, because after slipping the grip is restored very sharply.

On dry pavement, the brakes are medium, on wet - weak. In a critical situation, it is better to turn away from the obstacle on these tires than to brake! Stability at high speed is good.

Profitability is average, and at low speeds - low.

The manufacturer recommends Turanza as comfortable tires. We didn’t think so - in comparison with other participants in the test, they are noisy and do not provide good smoothness.

Good directional stability, a good set of lateral grip and drawback characteristics.

Very high rolling resistance at low speeds, low level of comfort.

6th place

Kleber Dynaxer HP2

Manufacturer - UK

866.8 points

Maximum speed - 210 km / h

Depth and tread pattern - 7.3–7.9 mm, non-directional

Tire weight - 6.9 kg

Price in Moscow - 2600 rubles.

Value for Money - 3.00

The lightest tire in our test is on average 2 kg lighter than competitors.

In a straight line, Skoda rides well on these tires, confidently brakes and turns. In a fast corner a slight skid is possible, and the higher the speed, the more the car tends to “wag its tail”.

On wet asphalt - a noticeable decrease in lateral grip, the behavior of the car changes: now only the demolition of the front end. All this is acceptable, but does not cause enthusiasm, as last year from "Dinaxer HP". There is a good economy at any speed, but the level of comfort is low - the tires are noisy and harsh.

Good directional stability and a range of water take-off characteristics with lateral grip on a dry surface; good economy at any speed.

Significant loss of lateral grip on wet surfaces, low level of comfort.

7th place

Matador MP 41 Aquilla

Manufacturer - Russia

847.6 points

Maximum speed - 210 km / h

Depth and tread pattern - 7.7 mm, directional

Tire weight - 9.0–9.6 kg

Price in Moscow - 2200 rubles.

Value for Money - 3.00

Already the first minutes of acquaintance with these tires cause conflicting feelings. The "active" directional pattern is almost mesmerizing, but the difference in weight of four tires of 0.6 kg suggests the instability of quality. Very good braking on dry and very weak on wet surfaces.

In terms of lateral coupling properties, the Matador is equivalent to the Yokohama, and even better in handling. On dry - somewhat sluggish reactions, in the limit a slight skid, on wet car behavior does not change. Stability is good.

Fuel consumption is great, mediocre comfort. At high speed, the roar of tires is heard.

Very good braking on dry, quite acceptable lateral grip and handling on any surface.

Poor braking on wet pavement, high rolling resistance at all speeds, low level of comfort.

8th place

Yokohama V500 dB

Manufacturer - Japan

846.5 points

Maximum speed - 210 km / h

Depth and tread pattern - 8.2 mm, non-directional

Tire weight - 9.2 kg

Price in Moscow - 2700 rubles.

Value for Money - 3.19

"Yokohama" has an average level of adhesion on any surface - both dry and wet. But the Skoda's handling on these tires is low. On dry - a sluggish reaction to the steering wheel turn (worse than that of the "Matador"), in the limit skidding, slipping too tight. On wet asphalt, the breakdowns become sharper and the drift deep, which causes difficulties for the driver.

Stability is almost good. At low speeds, tires are very economical, but at 120 km / h they go into the medium category. Good ride, internal noise is slightly higher, but at an acceptable level.

For tires ranked eighth in our ranking, the price is probably high. This also confirms the exorbitantly high price / quality ratio.

Good ride and economy at low and medium speeds.

Handling problems, especially on wet surfaces.

9th place

Dunlop SP Sport 200

Manufacturer - UK

831.7 points

Maximum speed - 210 km / h

Depth and tread pattern - 7.9–8.3 mm, non-directional

Tire weight - 8.6 kg

Price in Moscow - 2700 rubles.

Value for Money - 3.25

On any surface in terms of adhesion, this Dunlop is very close to Amtel (dry braking is even a little worse), and therefore the assessment is the same - mediocre.

Stability is good, but the handling is so-so. How much the car will obey the curve while moving on dry asphalt depends on the steering pace. Pull it a little sharper - "Skoda" will fall into a skid, significantly straightening the trajectory. If you turn it smoothly - it is possible to register the desired arc with the front wheels, but this does not guarantee that you will keep the car on it - now it strives to break into a skid.

On wet asphalt, top speed is limited only by the demolition of the front axle. The comfort is very high. Fuel consumption is more than we would like.

Good directional stability and comfort.

Low grip, high fuel consumption.

10th place

Amtel planet

Manufacturer - Russia (Amtel)

800.3 points

Maximum speed - 210 km / h

Depth and tread pattern - 7.8–8.3 mm, directional

Tire weight - 8.9 kg

The price in Moscow is 1500 rubles.

Value for Money - 1.87

The coupling properties of Amtel also do not delight. A sharp decrease in lateral grip on wet roads is especially unpleasant. It’s better to slow down than turn.

Manageability on dry surfaces is slightly higher than that of a Dunlop standing one place higher. Light skidding on dry asphalt unpleasantly progresses to wet, the behavior of the car becomes very “blurry” and requires the driver to mobilize experience and strength.

With high speed, you can only drive in a straight and perfectly smooth road. Otherwise, the Skoda “floats”, and there is no clear “zero” on the steering wheel.

Tires transmit annoying vibration to the body, which is especially noticeable at speeds up to 50 km / h. At low speeds, they are quite economical.

Economical at medium speeds.

Poor braking on any surface, uncertain handling and a sharp drop in lateral grip on wet, low directional stability and smoothness.

11th place

"Bear I-630"

Manufacturer - Russia (YaShZ)

760.6 points

Maximum speed - 210 km / h

Depth and tread pattern - 8.2 mm, non-directional

Tire weight - 9.6 kg - the heaviest

Price in Moscow - 1200 rubles.

Value for money - 1.58

This “Bear” has the lowest adhesion properties, and on any surface. Manageability is also not up to par - in a fast turn, the Skoda, wrapped in these tires, is very reluctant to react to the steering wheel.

It is better not to sort out speed in a bend even on dry asphalt - prolonged glides will allow you to stay on the road if its width is with three to four times the margin, and even more on wet.

In terms of economy, these tires have average indicators, except for the speed of 90 km / h that is especially widespread on our roads - here the appetite of the Bear increases. The ride is good, but the tires are unpleasantly noisy and buzzing, especially at 50 km / h.

The Bear is a budget version of 15-inch tires for lowly drivers with a leisurely driving style.

Good ride.

Lowest grip, poor handling.

The second year we take for test summer tires dimension 195 / 65R15. Such fit most foreign cars, common in Russia, and domestic "Volga".

This time in our collection of tires with a speed index "N" - their maximum speed is 210 km / h. Here, apart from the standings (in order to ask the price and feel the difference), two faster tires with the “V” index, that is 240 km / h. This is Yokohama C. Drive and winner of our Pirelli P7 test last year.

The tire carrier is Skoda Octavia. The testing methodology and rating system are the same. We talked about them in a test of 13-inch tires in the March issue of the magazine. There are two differences: in this test we slow down using ABS and evaluate the vehicle’s directional stability at higher speeds - up to 160 km / h. So for those who select tires for a car without ABS, we recommend not to focus on the absolute standings, but pay attention to the description of the tires and tables with results and ratings.
