About 60 thousand passenger cars were sold under the brands GAZ and Oka. About 40 thousand Russians bought IL cars last year and a little less than 30 thousand moved to new UAZ vehicles. On the whole, Russian brands accounted for about 72.5% of the new passenger car market, and in 2004, 940 thousand new domestic cars and 400 thousand new foreign cars were sold.
Among the latter, Chevrolet is the leader, whose sales in the Russian market have grown 1.5 times as compared to 2003 - to 56.5 thousand. For the first time, GM CIS included in its reports the sales of GM EM AvtoVAZ JV (more than 53 thousand Chevrolet Niva). It should be noted that 647 all-terrain vehicles “Trail Blazer” (+ 89.1% by 2003), 423 all-terrain vehicles “Tahoe” (+ 61.4%), 776 Aveo cars, 635 “Lazetti” were also sold on the Russian market. and 47 - “Evanda” (the last three models in “girlhood” wore “Daewoo” nameplates). Back in 2004, 83 Hummer SUVs of the Kaliningrad assembly were sold.
According to the results of the year, South Korean Hyundai deservedly occupied the second place among foreign cars - its sales volume in the Russian market grew 2.5 times in comparison with 2003 - up to 50, 686 cars. In third place is Toyota. Through a network of its authorized dealers, she sold 43, 867 cars. The leaders here were Corolla (12 973), Camry (9797), RAV4 (6156), Avensis (6092).
Ford retained fourth place, but never crossed the threshold of 40 thousand - the company sold 39, 241 cars (+ 96.1% compared to 2003). The “Focus” of the Vsevolozhsk assembly was still in greatest demand - 28, 059 vehicles sold, more than 70% of total sales. In second place is the Mondeo (3866 sedans and station wagons); sales of the compact Focus Focus Cmax 2926 started successfully.
The sales volume of UzDaewooAuto in 2004 (fifth place) increased in the Russian market compared to 2003 to 35, 398 cars. During this time, 25, 280 “Nexia” (+ 71.7% by 2003) and 10, 118 “Matizs” (+ 82.8%) were sold. Plans for this year are even more ambitious: 60 thousand! Meanwhile, the age of the main model, Nexia, makes itself felt: over the past three years, the company has slipped from first place to fifth.
Next in the top ten are Japanese Mitsubishi and Nissan, South Korean KIA and only in 9th and 10th places are European companies: Renault and Opel. Moreover, the first within a year lost ground, but the second rose two lines. The reason for the fiasco of European cars is one: those that are produced in the Eurozone are too expensive. “Opel” stayed in the top ten, as it is traditionally denominated in dollars, and “Renault” at the end of 2004 also switched to “bucks”. True, the assembly of the Logan will begin in Moscow in the summer. Then we'll see …
The opening of the year in our market can be considered the Japanese "Mazda" - sales increased 5.2 times (8565 cars). Alas, the Czech “Skoda”, which was once a favorite of the Russian market, is still rapidly losing ground: sales for the year decreased by 18.7%. The sales of the Spanish SEAT fell even further, by 44.5%, to 87 cars. There is nothing to boast about Volkswagen, whose cars in Russia have always been very popular. This is especially noticeable against the backdrop of the rapid growth of sales of other companies.
