The engine is based on a cast-iron cylinder block. He became 2.3 mm higher, the height from the axis of the bedding to the upper plane of the block is 197.1 mm. Marking - in the same place (photo 1), next to the upper holes for the screws securing the clutch housing. For fastening the head in block 21114, holes with M12x1.25 thread are used, and in 21124 - M10x1.25. Another distinctive feature of the 16-valve block is nozzles pressed into the main beds (photo 2). Their purpose is to cool the piston bottoms with oil.

The crankshafts of the new engines (photo 3) are the same, but they do not fit the previous models, since the radius of the crank has become 2.3 mm larger, due to which the piston stroke has increased from 71 mm to 75.6 mm. In order not to make a mistake when buying a shaft, remember that marking 11183 is cast on one of the balances of the new product (photo 4). With an increase in the working volume of the 8-valve engine, the combustion chamber in the head of the block also became larger: its length increased from 79 to 81 mm, and its width - from 48 to 50 mm (photo 5).

It is easy to distinguish a new head in the store: next to the threaded hole for the candle of the first cylinder there is a tide with the number 11183 (photo 6). The 16-valve unit head (photo 7) has changed slightly: the area of ​​flanges for the intake manifold has increased, and the screw has replaced the outermost pin - this is more technologically advanced. This head can also be installed on the 2112 engine (1.5 L).

Camshafts. A connoisseur of the 2111 engine, of course, remembers that he has implemented pairwise parallel injection, when the nozzles open twice for each working cycle. In the engine 21114, a phased injection is organized - a gas-air mixture, without stopping in front of the valve plate for an instant, enters the cylinder in one go at a strictly defined moment in time.

Now the 21114 engine injection system has a phase sensor, and the camshaft (photo 8) is supplemented with a pin marker. The new shaft does not differ in height from the inlet valve lifting height of 9.6 mm from 2111. (Recall that to check this parameter, measure the maximum cam size and the diameter of the back (round) side, then subtract the second from the first result.)

The camshafts of the 16-valve engine remained unchanged (photo 9). It is still important not to confuse them: the inlet next to the first cam has a distinctive belt.
