In the capital's car dealership, I once heard about “Ragon R +” - “crazy stool”. This nickname perfectly conveys the emotional perception of the little car. He's all that … However, you can’t say one word.

The high door slammed shut, and I found myself in a small office. I tried to remember where the last time I sat so straight - either in a minivan or in a bus. Here you can easily turn your whole body to the exit, and your legs will not touch anything. However, this is not necessary - a step to the side, and you are on the street (or, conversely, in the cabin).

Despite the miniature size of the “trailer”, the tallest (195 cm) and by no means a skinny colleague in the front seats seemed freer than in the related Suzuki Liana. On the back, he also fit easily, when in front of him sat a man of medium height. And now - attention! A 3.5-meter car has a trunk more than a nine, and accelerates to hundreds faster than an eight-valve dozen. Now it’s clear why the cutie was given such a nickname.

YES IT STILL …

… And all-wheel drive! Surprised? "Wagon R +" 4x4 will cost about $ 1, 500 more expensive than front-wheel drive. As a rule, this is brought to order.

Four-wheel drive “trailer” - with a viscous coupling on the cardan, tightening the rear wheels when the front wheels slip. On an empty country road at low speed, the machine even succeeds in controlled skidding (while the motor has enough traction for such a maneuver).

The main advantage of the all-wheel drive “Wagon R +” - the ability to ride on roads strewn with snow, icy climbs and, of course, urban snow porridge. Passers-by and travelers are genuinely surprised when this box boldly dives into a snowdrift near the Niva, and then, not straining itself, it gets out onto the asphalt and …

In the parking lots and next to them, Suzuki is the main character. It unfolds in one go where the others are two or three, has excellent visibility and provides the driver with a good sense of overall size (although the rear “wiper” leaves a vast uncleaned area).

And also, in a multi-parking lot, a short car 1.8 m high (!) Is visible from afar. On city streets the “trailer” pleases with a convenient engine characteristic. To praise the 1.3-liter engine for crankiness is probably strange, however, we note: the car keeps steady in the stream when the engine is in the range of 1500–2500 rpm - which is not an advantage.

But on the suburban highway, the elasticity is not enough. Even with a partial load, the driver sometimes has to “poke” the fourth gear before overtaking, and with a full cabin this becomes mandatory. It's nice that the Suzuki even then remains quite quiet.

What cannot be counted as an asset to Wagon R + is a stiffer suspension. But another reason for praise has already been found - a smart electric power amplifier, giving the light and fast steering wheel feedback. Governing bodies as a whole correspond to expected - on four with a plus sign. The gearshift mechanism lacks clarity, but the brakes have good feedback. We will use them: cool the ardor, stand somewhere on the sidelines and …

… LOOK AROUND

Two of the three wheels for controlling the air conditioning system can not only be turned, but also pulled onto themselves, thus including air conditioning and rear window heating. The light in the cabin also turns on … involuntarily, you remember the Volga.

Quite roomy niches are generously scattered around the cabin, there is even a capacity between the chair and the door - a rarity for "kids". I did not immediately find the driver's seat adjustment in height: it is not located on the left, like all cars, but on the right. Perhaps the right-hand drive car seat too lazy to redo?

Here are traces of someone else's luxury: when the ignition is turned on, the ESP indicator lights up, among others, and there is no stabilization system on our “trailer”. It can be seen, indeed laziness is the engine of progress, even Japanese. Do not believe?

Here, for example, are the rear seats: how are they laid out in an ordinary car? Remove the headrest, recline the pillow, lower the back and so on both sides. What about Suzuki? Press the latch button on the top of the back and push it lightly. The pillow itself will shift forward and down, the back will fall from above … that's it!

Options "Wagon R +" - the only, but rich. This is clearly visible against the background of competitors. Power mirrors, ABS and two airbags are standard equipment. And on our car there were four pillows - four-wheel drive modifications sometimes get to the dealer in an extended configuration. One more plus in offset to "trailer".

SUMMARY

The Suzuki Wagon R + is bigger and more comfortable than it seems from a distance. Combined with all-wheel drive - an almost perfect city dweller.
