In preparation for the meeting with Traget, I once again thought about what a family car is. Spacious and cozy, practical and comfortable - but this is not about that. Many languages (English, French, German) borrowed the word “family” from Latin, where the original Familia even in the most affectionate translation means “home power” or “subordination of one power”.
Whether it is a great Russian language, we have a "seven me." As the classics would have noticed, no oppression of man by man. So for a family car, from our point of view, it would be nice not only to accommodate seven, but also to take care of them with equal respect.
With the advent of station wagons of increased capacity and the general fashion for a high roof, the concept of “minivan” has become increasingly blurred. But the "Trajet" - of those real mini-vans - is one-volume, with separate easy-to-remove seats, high seating and a "vertical" layout.
The advantages of the car will certainly include its cost - the lowest among analogues. Even the KIA Carnival of the Russian assembly is a bit more expensive, however, it is offered with more interesting engines.
Relative disadvantages include quiet interior decoration - without a leather steering wheel and plastic inserts in wood or aluminum. But note: firstly, we have before us the most affordable mini-van of the Russian market, and secondly, the car provides all the necessary benefits. There is air conditioning, ABS, a pair of airbags, roof rails, electric windows and mirrors, heated front seats. And the inserts, no matter how rich they look, have little effect on consumer properties.
Inside - no avant-garde. If you are familiar with other "Koreans", the controls of the "Trajet" will be perceived as native. Unless the little things stop the eye. Wide armrests on the doors, two glove boxes, mirrors in both visors. Very convenient dual-use mesh in the trunk. She holds the load in place, and, since it is folded in half, it allows you to carry little things, like in a string bag.
By passenger standards, the “Trajet” landing is not high, but very high. It was she who made it possible to comfortably accommodate up to seven people in a relatively small minivan (230 mm shorter than the nearest rival Carnival). One would like to say: "I sit high, I look far away."
The driver will appreciate the very large range of steering wheel height adjustment. I can’t remember where else I fixed the steering wheel almost in the middle of the range - I usually lift it up to its highest position. However, it's time to leave.
WHERE THE EYES ARE LOOKING
Two times to the right, then to the left, and again to the right - we drove out into the street. And the steering wheel of the car is nice - quite light, gawky. The front pillars “reinforced” by props are not very comfortable, but large mirrors are good.
It took some time for the legs to learn how to quickly and smoothly coordinate the characteristics of the grip and the engine. Lack of "bottoms" or slurred clutch?.. Perhaps, a little bit of everything. However, for the clarity of the gearbox, I put only the “four”.
The two-liter engine does not tear up: I just want to call it medium-speed. There is “something” below, but the supply is small. After 2500 rpm, it comes to life, but by 4500 everything goes to noise … So the main trump card of the motor is moderate appetite. Agree, for an inexpensive minivan this is not the last value.
I liked to slow down: the pedal is not too light, which makes it possible to dose force even on slippery roads. At the same time, it is not so large that the driver (of any gender) is tired of stomping the pedal in city traffic jams.
The suspension does its job well, presenting a successful compromise between comfort and energy intensity. Manageability at moderate speeds and partial load pleasant. The car tends to be a little thoughtful, inspiring the driver with a sense of peace.
WE PLAY TETRIS
In addition to two front row chairs, all the rest can be removed and set arbitrarily! Simple and convenient, although we mention a few little things.
A strong half of the family should be engaged in redevelopment - for a fragile lady, armchairs are heavy. In the second and third rows they are different - they will not replace each other. Having put all seven seats, you will leave very little space on the gallery - a couple of large bags.
The designers tried to give everyone equal comfort. It starts with large doors. The rear ones are not movable, but hinged. Perhaps this will help those who travel in the second and third rows to feel not passengers of a minibus, but members of a large family. Useful little things are also stocked up for them: comfortable armrests, cup holders, backlight bulbs.
If you need to ride in a car with six (or four), it is more convenient to leave only two seats in the second row, spreading them wider.
The “Trajet”, equipped with an “automatic”, has another feature rare for the Russian market. The box selector is not located on the floor, but on the steering column. Americanism? Of course, but thanks to him, there is a passage in the front row. Suppose one of the members of a large family decided to change the driver without going outside.
Agree, curious. And why did these machines begin to be delivered to us only now?
Owner comment -
The arrival of the first batch of “trajetov” to Moscow, in which our car was also, was waiting in the family with almost the same impatience as the birth of my sister. At first, for a large family, they were going to buy a used minivan. However, having learned that the Hyundai company is beginning to sell “trades” in Russia at a very attractive price, we decided to take a new car.
"Hippopotamus", as it is affectionately called home, did not disappoint anyone. We liked the spacious lounge with many cup holders, and a strong half of the family appreciated the ability to remove the rear rows of seats, freeing up space for cargo.
Fears that driving a minivan would cause serious difficulties were in vain. Of course, you can’t call the Hippopotamus frisky, but it turned out to be quite obedient and convenient to drive: a high landing and large side mirrors provide excellent visibility, parking sensors are very helpful (installed additionally).
Alas, it has not yet been possible to get a closer look at our dogs' family purchase. They are terribly fond of trips, but they do not know how to behave in a car. So first you have to pick up seat covers: the factory upholstery was too light - and therefore a brand.
Hyundai Trajet - the most affordable in the segment of seven-seater cars. Not trying to look more expensive than he is, but offers a wide range of equipment.
+ Successfully combining energy intensity and comfort suspension, rich equipment, a wide range of adjustments for the driver.
