BRAKES: CHANGE LIQUID
FAVORABLE EXCHANGE
BORIS EZDAKOV
Ethylene glycol brake fluid has an insidious property - it is extremely hygroscopic. In other words, willingly "sucks" water vapor from atmospheric air. In some of our regions, two to three years of a car’s life is more than enough for a liquid diluted with water to become unsuitable for the brake system. Not only that, such a “solution” enhances the corrosion of parts, its boiling point decreases markedly. Some intense braking - bubbles form in the brake cylinders and the brake pedal falls to the floor.
What prevents in time to replace the unsuitable "brakes"? Most often frivolity, underestimation of the possible consequences. Some just "toad smothers" - save. Found on what! Try to prove in such a way that fresh fluid in the system is a necessity, not a whim of the drafters of the instructions!
Fortunately, there are much more reasonable ones. Even those who are constrained in means with brakes do not joke. You can replace the fluid yourself - the simple job. There is another argument: it’s dangerous to entrust even lawn mowing to some services!
How to simplify, rationalize fluid replacement, we show on the example of the VAZ-2110. It will be about two very simple devices.
The first is a steel washer (see. Fig.), In which the valve of a tubeless tire is planted (photo 1). The rubber washer serves as a sealing gasket when mounting the device on the brake reservoir.
The second device is a reinforced (dyuritic) hose a meter and a half long, at the ends of which easily removable tips of tire pumps are fixed with clamps.
The order of work is as follows. Having removed the wires from the emergency brake fluid level sensor, we remove the sensor from the clamping ring and insert our device with a rubber gasket instead. Screw the ring onto the tank. The second device will allow you to connect the valve on the tank to the wheel valve (in our photo 2 - this is the left front, but it can also be a spare one).
Now, jacking up the car and using the stands, remove the wheels. Unscrewing the brake bleeding fitting, we will expel all the old brake fluid by air pressure (not forgetting that the VAZ-2110 has a “diagonal” brake circuit).
