The market is simply awash with products of all kinds, sizes and types. They are not easy to classify - there are with LEDs and lamps, removable or built-in, uniform and shapeless, red (as expected) or with running lights of all colors. Even in the shape of hearts and with the inscription "I love You!". And they put it on cars! From behind!

Such abundance is both good and bad. It’s not easy to choose what is right for your car. And the range of prices is great. And he raises doubts about how long the flashlight will last. The Chinese, say right away, are burning for a sweet soul. And the “feet” that you can trust (for example, Hella), firstly, are not always good in design, and secondly, expensive. Thirdly, they are very often faked.

In addition, what tuners are we if we only buy and install? Then we just need to be called pickers, and that sounds insulting. So there is a proposal to make a stop signal, as Papanov said in a cult movie, with his own hands.

It is better to put off the bulbs - it is difficult and bulky, and the appearance of the product is unlikely to be neat. Our choice is LEDs. They are compact, quicker to ignite, durable and economical.

Before you go to the store or the market for LEDs and other "sources", you need to determine exactly where the brake light will be. According to the traffic rules, his place is strictly defined, and we will fulfill these requirements as accurately as possible (in fact, they put it on horrible and what horrible). So we will reduce the installation rules to three points: along the longitudinal axis of the machine, above the main brake lights, without limiting the view. And of course, the LEDs should be red and no other.

Note this: LEDs can be built into the car body and attachments, say, in a plastic spoiler. We chose the latter option - the bearer of the “extra stop” was the visor on the fifth door of the hatchback. If you use German terminology (and this part comes from the Oder) - a heck-hood.

Only amateurs think that an LED is an LED. He comes to the store and says: “And give me the LEDs!” Then it turns out that there are lots of options. We will not describe them all. We will only say that we bought only eight LEDs with a diameter of 1.5 mm produced in Russia (no worse than imported). As a gift, the seller dumped eight 500 Ohm resistors each. The brightness depends on the resistance: if you put a resistor with a higher resistance, the glow will be dimmer, a smaller one will quickly burn out.

And now we’ll stock up with wire cutters, a soldering iron with rosin and tin, electrical tape, a drill with a “diode” caliber drill, universal glue and a coil of wire in isolation. And let's start the action.

First you need to assemble the cluster itself, that is, a bunch of diodes. To do this, a resistor is soldered to the long leg of each. This foot is powered. The short leg will be negative. Care must be taken to ensure thorough isolation. And if the “plus” and “minus” are mixed up, the LED will not work. Now the LEDs need to be assembled together by soldering them in parallel to the wires. Do not forget to leave the wires to connect the on-board network. The easiest way is to feed off the chips of one of the regular stoplights. When the cluster is assembled, you need to carefully mark the element where it will be mounted so that the part looks neat. Our "craftsman" hastened, and here is the result - the diodes are not quite exactly.

Let us recall once again: the diameter of the drill must be such that the LEDs enter their nests (drilled holes) with little effort. The rim on the bottom of the glass cone will not let them fall out, but if you want to further fix it, carefully drop the glue into the socket.
