When a substandard product enters the brake system of a car, the behavior of the car can be safely considered unpredictable. Among the most attractive objects for fakes are the products of the German company Fenox (FENOX Automotive Components). The Belarusian parts produced under its auspices have many “doubles” produced by clandestine “sharak”.

The company offers hydraulic cylinders of four different brands (Premium, Leader, Optimal and Classic), but the Classic series, designed for a conservative and poor consumer, enjoys special attention of artisans. This is mainly about VAZ parts, although similar products are produced for GAZ and for Muscovites. Linden cylinders come into the world in various ways - both restored “used goods” and “clones” made from rejected or stolen components get on the shelves. In order to distinguish real “phoenixes” from “false Dmitrys”, we suggest that you familiarize yourself with photos 1–5.

In fairness, we note that until recently, “Fenox” produced some cylinders for domestic cars without the FENOX inscription on the body - it was replaced by the signs “AB” or “lightning”. In addition, the company supplies a small part of its products at the request of the customer without packaging, but this mainly applies to car service and other wholesale consumers. And another feature of this product is the production date stamped in the shock way - on the rear brake cylinders it is applied near the fitting. The first two digits of three indicate the week number (from 1 to 52), and the third (from 0 to 9) - the last digit of the year of issue.

And for those who do not want to understand our colorful arrows, as always, there is only one thing - to go around “three-mile” retail outlets …

1. The cast iron of the original has a small roughness and must contain a clear FENOX inscription. Painting and drying are carried out on an automatic line, which ensures uniform corrosion-resistant coating of the body. The lateral surfaces of the boss of the VAZ cylinders are not machined: the necessary accuracy is ensured by casting. Steel pistons are black coated.

2. Corps of fakes, as a rule, with numerous scratches, since they are previously cleaned from rust. For painting often used cheap paint, sticky to the hands. At the same time, sometimes the painted surfaces are painted over at the same time. If the paint is painted directly on the rust, the coating is uneven, bumpy. The side of the boss may have traces of turning. Pistons - yellow or white.

3. A fake fitting is usually much shorter than the present - the VAZ has a length of 30 mm. The bevels are chamfered on its wide hexagon, and the sealing part is conical, without truncation. Shorty is usually made of soft metal, and even special keys are torn off its narrow edges. No wonder the fake wears out very quickly.

4. “Correct” anthers of “Phoenix” are made in our own production from special rubber. They are thick, even, glossy, with clear labels and a digital code. Fake cylinders usually contain anthers made on worn molds from ordinary rubber - they are dull, with an uneven surface. Sometimes they have a fuzzy brand of an unknown manufacturer.
