NISSAN-ALMERA - RELIABLE APPARATUS
TEXT / ARKADY GOATS
"Almera" modification N15 is equipped with 1.4 - and 1.6-liter gasoline engines or diesel. The latter in Russia can be considered exotic. Most cars with a 1.6 liter engine were bought new in Russia, and from 1.4 - imported from Germany. The latter should be borne in mind by those who are eyeing a used Almera - as a rule, they come from Germany after pre-sale preparation in perfect condition. You should not expect serious malfunctions even from a used car - it can spoil the mood with only trifles.
The engine has been serving faithfully for years. In the second hundred thousand, an oil pressure sensor may begin to leak. Replace it quite up to your own strength. The lambda probe is tenacious surprisingly; its failure is a rare exception. The catalyst, housed in a separate housing, is reliable. Only leaded gasoline can kill him. Nozzles ask for cleaning every 50 thousand km, but it happens, they are capricious before. This happens, as a rule, after experiments with various additives to gasoline. All dirt washed off by them and deposits from the tank directly settle on the nozzles. Candles will work out 80 thousand km if “left” gasoline is not caught. Masters recommend the original, NGK, at $ 14 per set - it’s more reliable with them. There is no toothed belt - the timing is driven by a pair of double-row chains. Replace them never.
Transmission "Almeria" with dignity endures all the delights of Russian roads. Anthers CV joints crack from time to time usually to 100 thousand km. The node itself is unpretentious and reliable. I had to change the anthers torn to shreds, and the CV joint at the same time, of course, was checked. The only thing he required was flushing and lubrication. There are no complaints about the gearbox. The clutch will have to change thousands of things in two hundred, not earlier.
Suspension quality to match the car. The Kayyaba racks seem to be eternal, if not to ditch them in the well. The weak point is the anthers of the rear pillars. You can’t replace the torn part in time - the rack will fail. It is necessary to check the boot every time the machine is on the lift. From aging, rubber loses its properties and the joint is destroyed, through which the stabilizer bar is attached to the stabilizer itself. The part is inexpensive, and replacing it on your own without problems would be a pit or a lift.
Steering suffers from one disease. It happens that leaking pipe connections - the radiator and the power steering hoses. Blame here branded wire double-row clamps. They easily cut already rubberized rubber. Leaks can usually be eliminated by replacing the clamps with flat ones, which put a little to the side. If it does not help, you will have to change the hose. It is located cunningly, under the wires, and therefore you have to sweat. It is not necessary to pump the power steering system after such a replacement. It is enough to fill in the liquid (preferably a new one), shake the wheel - and that’s all.
Brakes often suffer from careless maintenance - when replacing pads, anthers are often torn. In order for the mechanism to work without failures, it is necessary to thoroughly clean the nests for the pads. Be sure to lubricate the guides, otherwise they will grab from dirt, the braking performance will decrease, the pedal will become stiff. The rear pads serve for a long time, and when disassembling, nothing “soups” and does not stick to it for reasons unclear for our car industry.
Electrical equipment confirms the old rule: do not interfere with the operation of the device. So, the reason for the failure of the controller is always the same: interference with the normal operation of electrical circuits. An illiterate alarm is most often to blame. At the starter, to the two hundred thousand kilometers (or even more) the teeth of the overrunning clutch (bendix) wear out. The generator at the same age will ask to replace the brushes. Often to the mileage of 150 thousand km, the axis of the "wipers" are broken. It is easy to check if you can find the backlash of the axis by hand. It is not worth pulling with replacing the axles, otherwise the plastic bushings of the rods may wear out and you will have to change the trapezoid assembly. The rest of the worries are limited to replacing the blown bulbs.
The body "Almeria" is durable and requires a single type of service - washing. The standard procedure for processing anticorrosive and installing lockers is not needed: the metal does not rust even in places where paint is chipped. To 200 thousand km appears the development of driver's door hinges. The loop changes only in its entirety.
A short list of weak points ends here. “Almera”, like a well-trained dog, does not require special attention, always obedient and faithful. She would have decent gas and timely MOT - and a long life would be guaranteed.
