CZECH REPUBLIC … PERFECT BEER, EXCELLENT HOCKEY - A CANDLE OF IGNITION?
TEXT / MIKHAIL KOLODOCHKIN
A LITTLE HISTORY
The name of the company where the candles shown in the photo are made reflects in its own way the complex processes that are shaking Europe to this day. In 1935, the Czech engineer Brooke founded the eponymous private company. However, already at the beginning of the Second World War, the business fell into the hands of the German Aloyz Rykhli. The corresponding name lasted until 1944, when the letters OHM appeared on the entrance instead of the inscription “Rychly”. And a year later, the company became subordinate to the Automobile and Aviation Industry Plant Management - PAL (this abbreviation is better remembered by motorcyclists). In 1949 - a new "baptism": now in the rank of a branch of the same PAL. The year 1953 brought the company another name - Iskra, which lasted about 40 years. But it did not become final either - in 1992, Iskra was hastily renamed to Brisk Tabor JSC. And in 1995, the company actually again became a private company with Czech capital.
In Russia, the attitude towards candles with the inscription “Brisk” on the insulator is ambiguous. A university teacher will still buy Ufa or Engels - they are cheaper. A bank employee, on the contrary, will take Bosch or Beru - more expensive and prestigious. With regard to the technical side of the issue, the diversity of opinions can only be surprised. And what do Brisk candle makers think of all this?
Pan Chapka is a wealthy man: actually a co-owner of the company. Naturally, he occupies a number of "modest" posts - the chairman of the board, the general director, etc. Why does the pan spend his money on the production of Czech candles when there are so many other eminent manufacturers around? After all, not everyone will survive - what then?
- That's good! - Pan Chapka pretty nods his head. - The best ones will remain - what’s wrong with that? By the way, we also prefer to cooperate with well-known companies - for example, with Lamborghini … Twelve cylinders, hundreds of horsepower - you can’t put the first candles on this. A "Brisk" - you can!
Well, the mention of such partners is impressive, but … we would have something for Samara! About the gaps, electrodes and discharges tells the main "guru" by candlelight - Pan Vopravil.
A LITTLE TECHNOLOGY
We find out the following. The “ordinary” candle for the VAZ 2108 Brisk Classic (L15Y) motor is a simple workhorse, obliged to serve the owner the required 20 thousand km. The use of a Super (L15YC) candle with a copper core is justified if frequent short trips prevail: the insulator of the central electrode of such a candle is slightly longer, and therefore warms up faster. At the start of the engine, this will not affect in any way, but the candle will come out to the operating temperature mode faster - this greatly improves its self-cleaning. The replacement interval for “super-candles” is 30 thousand km on normal gasoline without lead and 20 thousand km on ordinary. Extra candles (LR15TC) also have a copper core, however it is crowned with three side electrodes that do not block the central end. The latter circumstance somewhat improves the ignition of the mixture, and the "triple protection" significantly extends the life of the product. The side electrodes work as if in turn, which allows the company to guarantee an interval until replacement of 60 thousand km. Naturally, again, on gasoline without lead additives.
The coolest candle for the Samaritan is Platin (LR15YPP). There are only two electrodes in it - lateral and central, but non-burning platinum contacts are applied to them. And the electrodes themselves are unusually narrow - according to the developers, this improves the spread of the flame fountain. Such a candle serves as much as 90 thousand km! It is hard to believe, but the catalog of the company is a document.
And now - about the sad. The "coolest" candle of Brisk Premium company to most Russians so far is useless. The product with an unusually protruding central insulator and an annular side electrode has no analogues in the world, but the modification for “Samar” and “Volga” is so far “not listed.” Among the new "premiums" there are so-called multi-spark candles! The ZC / ZS product responds to each signal from the switch with a “threefold salute” - first from the central electrode to the first conductive step located on top of the insulator, then to the second step and only then to the candle body! It is clear that this is actually the same discharge, spaced in space. Those who like to experiment can independently choose the nearest suitable candle from the company catalog - at their own peril and risk …
