TWO-DOOR SISTER OF THE FASTEST TEN

Few people know that even at the dawn of creation, the “tenth” family included four models. Popular today, the 2110 sedan, 2111 station wagon and 2112 hatchback were supplemented by another car - with a sports bias. The all-wheel drive three-door hatchback 2113 was conceived as a peculiar development of the G8, but due to a number of circumstances the car was never born, and the unclaimed index went to the three-door Samara-2.
Modifications with a reduced number of doors, which initially arose as cars for business trips, began to differ from their "full-door" relatives in a sporting character. And the name of the body type is “tudor” (two-door) or “coach” gradually degenerated into a “coupe” and was assigned to sports two-door cars with original appearance. But creating a new body is much more difficult than simply reducing the number of doors. It was the second, simpler way that the two Togliatti firms went - Lada-Tul and Motorika, putting a coupe on the basis of the fastest “top ten” VAZ 2110 6 for trial.
The overall dimensions, the platform and even the contours of the machine have been preserved. They increased the length of the front doors by 250 millimeters, “closed” a small glass-triangle in the rear pillar, and the space between them itself determined the contour of the rear side window, which became lowering. As a result, the silhouette of the "cockpit", and the whole machine has become more rapid and dynamic. The standard headlights, separated by plastic lining on almost round elements, and the original taillights in combination with the round, sporty-looking one-hundred-and-sixth filling filler flap made up a single composition.
So, with a few touches, the almost standard sedan was turned into a compartment with a pronounced sporty appearance. And the VAZ "tenth" family replenished with a two-door version. Well, if the conveyor is not able to cover all consumer niches of the market, then for small agile firms it is quite capable of it.
For the first time, the coupe was released in the fall of 1999 at the Togliatti Motor Show. And here there were those who wanted to immediately get it.
For more than a year, partners have been preparing the production of new items. The main task that was solved during this time was the development of technology for the industrial manufacture of the body. After all, the sidewalls and doors of the first sample were redone in accessible ways from “tenths” of parts. Today the manufacturing of equipment - special polymer dies is completed. In January, a certificate for small-scale production has already been received and custom-made coupe production has begun. Estimated cost - from 500 thousand rubles.
We did not wait for the release of commercial vehicles and decided to ride on the one that already exists. The door of the compartment resembles a figure-eight in size. The upholstery on it is solid, although the lowering glass is rectangular, and the “corner” is closed by an unopenable “window”. They say that in a month or two full-size glasses will be mastered, but today’s solution suits us. It looks good, there is less spray in the rain.
Front seats - with developed lateral support and integrated head restraints. On the sidewalls of the backs there are hooks, as on the "figure eight", to recline them forward. Wading into the back seat is not as convenient as in 2108 - the doorway is small. And it looks double. But you can accommodate the three of us - the width of the cabin allows. The highlight of the coupe is lowering, electrically operated, side rear windows. A trifle, but nice! This is the standard. But the sunroof is already an option.
