PAGER ON WHEELS
If a person who is away from home or office receives information on a pager or mobile phone - why not teach the car how to do it?
Alexander BUDKIN
Our favorite is getting smarter before our eyes: he acquired an on-board computer, learned to remember the position of the driver’s seat, turn on the wipers if it starts to rain, dazzle when entering the tunnel, inform the driver about the distance to the obstacle when parking, maintain a predetermined temperature in the cabin or speed, even perceive voice commands. Modern security systems (alarms) make it possible to command a car at a short distance: open or close doors, turn on sensors of different levels (internal or external volumes, impact), guard a car with a working engine and even start a car while looking at it from the balcony. But it seems that this is not enough.
The joint efforts of Vesso Link Single Paging and American Wei made it possible to create a remote control system for the car. Everything that the keychain of the alarm system allowed to do with the machine from a distance of 20–25 m is now possible when the car is removed a few tens of kilometers from you, or rather, 80–200 km from Ostankino (for Moscow). This is a little further than a regular pager takes.
The highlight of the system in a special unit, hidden in the bowels of the car. It, like a digital pager, accepts the password you transmitted through the operator. Naturally, this can be done, not only by saying a combination of numbers to a girl with a pleasant voice, but also by phone, which allows tone dialing or even sitting at a computer connected to the Internet. Imagine a taxi fleet: the dispatcher, five minutes before the start of the shift, presses a computer key and starts several dozen cars to warm up. Or, on the contrary, it turns off the engine of the car, the driver of which decided to work on his pocket after the shift.
