LANCHA-IPSILON
Lancia y
The Italian company Lancia, a member of the FIAT concern, introduced the second generation of the Epsilon model in 1996 (see ZR, 1997, No. 1). City car with a memorable appearance and a distinctive character was to the taste of customers in Europe. More than 210 thousand cars of this model have already been produced, and the demand for it is quite stable.
However, after two years at Lanche, they decided that it was time to modernize the Epsilon. A newcomer appeared in the range of engines - a new generation 16-valve power unit with a working volume of 1.2 liters and a capacity of 63 kW / 86 liters. with. These, at first glance, modest characteristics are quite enough for a light car to confidently start at intersections, and on highways not lag behind more powerful rivals. Perhaps it is precisely these factors that explain the success of the small Epsilon among male buyers - according to company statistics, they account for 46% of purchased cars.
In 1998, buyers were given the opportunity to purchase a car with automatic transmission - it is "becoming fashionable" on European small-class cars. In addition, options previously available only to owners of more expensive Lancia models appeared in the list of optional equipment, for example, light alloy wheels and wooden steering wheels.
From the point of view of the buyer, the extraordinary abundance of colors in which the Epsilon bodies are painted is very attractive. Italians not without pride offer to choose one of 100 shades!
