DEU-LEGANZA
Daewoo leganza
The Daewoo company, in an effort to oust Hyundai from first place among Korean car manufacturers, is making truly titanic efforts. Almost simultaneously, in just six months, three (!) New families of passenger cars of small and middle classes were put into production at once. Apparently, this will make eminent manufacturers think twice, well aware of the amount of spent financial resources and managerial efforts. It is characteristic that all three new cars in 1997 were immediately shown to European customers, and two of them - “Nubira” and “Leganza” - became exhibits of the Moscow Motor Show.
The Leganza model is the largest in the new series of models; it will replace the Espero. The design traditions of the Daewoo are absent, therefore, German, Italian and English specialists participated in the development of this car. It is not surprising that the car turned out to be completely European, it combines good appearance and comfort with good driving performance.
The body (so far only a four-door sedan is made) complies with all promising standards of passive safety, including oblique and side collisions. The suspension of all wheels is independent. An automatic transmission is manufactured under license from the German company Tsanradfabrik. The traction control system on the drive wheels along with the ABS indicates that the car is quite modern and its design is complicated. So far, Leganza family cars are produced in only two versions, both with a two-liter engine. SX model with an eight-valve engine rated at 78 kW / 106 l. with. and CDX with a 16-valve 133-horsepower (98 kW) engine. At the assembly plant, organized by the financial and industrial group Doninvest in Rostov-on-Don and Taganrog, it is planned to produce a slightly modified version of Leganza for the Russian market called Condor.
Data models CDX European configuration.
