DEAR TRAVELERS: BE CAREFULLY
Valery VERSHININ
To listen to advice, recommendations, teachings - business, I agree, is not pleasant for everyone. Moreover, you, of course, have mastered and learned a little book of the Rules of the Road, you also know the “unprintable” driver's rules, which are passed, as they say, by word of mouth and for the most part have been tested by practice. Nevertheless, I would like to remind you of something, because all the time you see how the drivers (and the drivers!) Risk not observing the elementary …
When driving, try to get rid of heavy thoughts. Try to relax while driving, “surrendering” to the road, especially after a hard working day. Sometimes it can even stop a headache. Do not engage in heated, emotional conversations on the way, especially avoid clarifying relationships, disputes with passengers. This is very distracting and can even cause accidents. It is no accident that a warning is posted in prominent places in public transport: “Do not talk with the driver!”
Your actions behind the wheel should be fussy, without haste - imagine that you are helping the car to drive. On an open, well-visible highway, you can even relax a bit - change your position, lean back in an armchair. However, the reaction to changing traffic conditions should be lightning fast!
Always when driving, especially in the city, control the situation behind and on the side of your car through the rear-view mirrors. The principle here is - "self-confident, but not confident in others." When changing lanes from one row to another, insure yourself with a glance in the side window, as passing cars can appear “between” mirrors. When approaching a traffic light or turning and slowing down, it is worthwhile to blink a few times with brake lights to attract the attention of someone moving behind.
If you are driving along a suburban highway and you need to stop, it’s better to choose a larger platform and turn onto it. Try to avoid stops on the side of the road - it is very likely that a passing driver accidentally “blows” your car off the jack with a gust of wind or turns the door open for her, and it’s scary to warn of collisions.
In the event of a difficult (emergency) situation, you cannot fuss and panic. Keep in mind that sharp (emergency) braking sometimes can only aggravate the situation, but at the same time it is impossible to hesitate. The art of the driver lies precisely in making the only right decision in a matter of moments. If it is impossible to avoid an accident, then you should try to minimize losses (damage) at least to a minimum (to get away from a head-on collision; it is better to move into a ditch than to crash into a pole).
Never argue with the inspector of the traffic police! If you calmly, intelligibly explain to him the reason for your violation of the traffic rules, it is very possible that he will let you go in peace.
Be very careful when you see elderly people crossing the road, children, animals (dogs, cats, etc.). The fact is that their actions are sometimes unpredictable: they can swept along the road, go or run back, reaching its middle. Better slow down and wait for them to do something specific.
Moving in a stream and hearing a police whistle somewhere nearby, there is no need to frantically turn your head and look through the eyes of a traffic police inspector - this will distract your attention from the road and can create an emergency. The driver should see that the inspector demands to stop, being in front or in extreme cases on the side of the car with the rod raised. If the whistle sounds from behind, continue driving - it is not addressed to you.
